Don't scare the boy. The thought that one might choose to go gay would scare him to the extent that he might just superglue his bumhole shut. And that's just not fair on the nurses that work in Emergency Rooms.

You know, having great dress sense, taste in interior decor and not have to put up with the nagging of a wife does have its appeal...although having a partner with a willy is deterring me on the other handSpeaking of Erith:

Replace homosexual with black or jewish, and see if your point makes any sense.
My answer would be that I would like to be born Jewish, cause I think it is unique.
Many Jews would probably not share my view. Maybe even my parents.
Stop being so sensitive about everything gay related. Being gay is not holy.

If scientists were to discover a gene that determines sexual preference, and they then discovered a way to make it so that they could reverse the disorder that causes homosexuality, would you choose to remain homosexual or would you choose to become heterosexual?
PH is probably right, but this ties in with many of the concerns about "designer children".
If it is possible to select traits before birth. the result will be a de facto discrimination against homosexuals and other put upon people. Imagine if it were possible to make your kid whiter, for example.
You can simplify the question to the following: may the liberties of individuals be restricted when the most likely result will be to create a hostile environment for others?
That's one of the most difficult ethical questions there is.Only feebs vote.

Your mistake is that you are equating sexuality with race. There is a norm for sexuality, there isn't one for race. It's perfectly normal to be black or white, it's not normal to be homosexual. Therefore there is no ethical question here because you would simply be bringing these people back into the norm. Do you not cure other disorders?

Personally, I think that people who buy Britney Spears records have a mental disorder, but we have deemed that it's OK to choose those. Similarly, people who engage in sexual perversions such as bondage, fapping to internet porn, or group sex are free to engage in such activities.
If you granted people the freedom to choose the colour of their child's skin, then many people would probably make their children whiter.
I guess I'm saying is that you will allow people a free choice over their sexuality, but not over other things, such as their racial appearance. I don't see how you can allow one and not the other. If you had said that homosexuality was a perversion and that "conversion" would be mandatory for homosexuals, then you would be consistent. But you seem to imply that it is up to each individual to choose whether to stay gay or not.Only feebs vote.

I consider homosexuality a matter of personal lifestyle, like preferring vanilla over chocolate. But I guess that having different tastes makes me abnormal.I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

If it is genetic, it is no different than race - and has the same complex ethical issues of choice-at-birth [which are much more serious than self-choice, which should generally be allowed IMO]. If it is environmental with genetic influences, then it is basically in the same boat.
