I've spent a great deal of time in PW county in the past few years. I don't really notice any difference between the people in Manassas and the people in Centerville or Fairfax. Maybe it's because my hometown was so hillbillyish that my senses aren't fined tuned enough to determine the distinctions in sophistication between PW and Fairfax counties.

Mebbe. REAL Yankees from Boston or New York still find traces of southern gentility when they hit Wilmington, DE But then what that may say is that the South is giving way here not to Yankeedom, but to Border States dom, and thats always looked Southern to Yankees, and Northern to Southrons. I think thats more the case.
BTW, Im fascinated by cultural geography in general and youve hit on the cult geo of the area where I live, so dont expect me not to go on about this ad nauseum

I also find it interesting, and it's also going to be my home in a few months, so feel free to write as much as you'd like about it. I'll be interested, even if no one else is.

Southern culture is determined by the availability of Sweet Tea, and if that abomination you guys call Unsweetend Tea is available at the same time.

I know a lovely diner/casual rest in the City of Alexandria VA. the owner is Greek, the waitresses have a touch of hill billyness (and they serve excellent grits, as well as gyros) and naturally the place is hospitable all around. And theyve known POTM since she was two, and always ask about her if we go in without her.
A nice thing, in the huge anonymous metroplex that our nations capital has become.

No, its when you order "tea" do they assume you want it iced or hot. That was an adjustment at first.

You can get unsweetened tea pretty much anywhere in Williamsburg. I'd say it's more prevelant than that sludge you call sweet tea.

However, they weren't promoting a fascist regime, as the regime that is promoted by flying that flag was not fascist.
Presumably, they were being accused of promoting a fascist regime in Poland.

I would expect that from a person whose culture's culinary claim to fame is baked beans.

Youre referring to Williamsburg, VA, of course?

I see a difference between promoting fascism and promoting a fascist regime. If depends on how the Poles have defined the elements of the crime. Without further knowledge, we can't really settle this issue.
If they were flying a Nazi flag as a way to express their fascist beliefs and to advocate for fascism, then I'd say that they were both promoting fascism and promoting a fascist regime. If they were flying a Confederate flag as a way to express their fascist beliefs and to advocate for fascism, then I'd say that they were promoting fascism, but not a fascist regime.
You could argue that, by flying a symbol of their fascist beliefs (in this case a Confederate flag), they were promoting the fascist regime that they'd like to create if they ever got power in the future. However, I don't see how you could distinguish that from the merely promoting fascism itself.
If promoting fascism itself is against the law, then these guys could be guilty. If the regime promotion part of the law is significant and distinct from a less specific "promoting fascism" law, then I don't think that flying a Confederate flag could satisfy that element of the law.

Y'all have it all wrong. You can tell you're dealing with Yankees if they use a grill to make BBQ...
