It turns out this pig was actually a farm raised boar which had been released on this "Hog Hunting Ranch" four days before it was shot. His name was fred the pig and the Ranch owner had bought him from the farmer who raised him claiming Fred would be used for breeding purposes but released him to be hunted that same day. Fred wasn't wild at all and instead was a domestic pig which didn't know how to care for himself in the wild and who hadn't eaten in four days before this kid and his dad came and shot him. I imagine both the rancher and the hunters knew it wasn't a wild pig but went ahead and claimed they'd shot a world record pig anyway. Basically they're liars.
Last week, we reported that a 1,051-pound, 9-foot-4-inch wild boar was shot by an 11-year-old Alabama boy. At the time, it was thought to be a contender for a wild hog record. But Rhonda Blissitt and her husband came forward to say that the hog was actually a domesticated pig raised on their farm.

That pig was probably a forest spirit.
You know that that kid would never in a million years make an anime protagonist though
ps: i doubt that the pig was that difficult to shoot. I suspect its movements didnt quite resemble that of an antilope.
Fat pig safari does not seem that appealing

You don't have to get insulting about it. I'm not an anti-hogite.

And quite frankly, I have no respect for the average hunter.
Feeding deer and then sitting in a blind, for instance, is pretty *****.
Let's go bear on man with bowie knife and then we'll call it a sport.
Dumb****, huh?

I hate hunting ranches.
I'm not all against hunters. My huncle hunts with a bow. And not on ranches, but on open land.
Is anyone else scared by a pig that size mating? I think it's better it's dead.
I don't know about you but if a pig that size found me in the woods, I'd hope I had enough to take it down.
I don't get why you folks don't like hunting. I mean the meat you eat has to come from somewhere. At least hunting takes some skill. I've hunted geese and ducks before, was quite thankful to hit one of them so I didn't come home empty handed.

But this wasn't a wild animal. This was a domestic pig released into the wild. Probably starving after four days.
Plus, if you're going to hunt something that big use a rifle to kill the poor thing cleanly. Don't blast giant wounds in him and chase him while he bleeds out.
It was too big to slaughter and too big to breed. The owners said they couldn't keep the pig in a pen or inside their property as it could just walk through the fence without even stopping.
So they donated the pig to the nature preserve in the hopes that someone could hunt it down and kill him.
I don't know about you but a hungry and grumpy pig after 4 days isn't what I would want to run into even if I was hunting.

The farmer should have just killed it and donated the meat to some homeless shelter. I'm sure those people would have loved to have all the meat they could eat.
