I like Lewisville, I live about 10 minutes north of it. Plano, Richardson, all the other suburbs are solid I'm sure.

Yeah right. San Diego is famous for it's skiing.

Well, they reviewed my resume and want to talk on the phone. So the first step is actually being taken.

After that, they may set up a "panel interview" (because I'm so far away) and then the decision. If they decide "yes" I'll have to find a way to sell my house here, look for a house there, and move within a reasonable strech of time.

All this while my wife is in Brazil with family until 8/1. Hope this takes longer than that but something in me says it will be close.

I'll keep you posted, and thanks for the area names. Anyone know where the AAFES compound is? That's where the position is, AAFES.

Over near Ft. Worth, more than Dallas, I think.

We have two ski lresorts with in a 1 hour drive. The local mountains only get up to around 10k-11k feet though in LA they get up to around 12k-13k. The high Sierra's are where the best skiing is in the state as the mountains are higher then the Rocky Mountains and are the highest in the continental US. The High Sierra's are only about 5-6 hours away by car depending upon how you drive.

Guadalupe Peak - highest peak in Texas (8749 feet)

You can start backing up anytime you choose about "no mountains in Texas".

This page is intended to provide information about the highpoints of the United States.

And let's not leave out canyons.

Palo Duro Canyon is a canyon system of the Caprock Escarpment in the Panhandle of Texas (USA). As the second largest canyon in the United States, it is roughly 120 miles long and has an average width of 6 miles, but reaches a width of 20 miles at places. Its maximum depth is 800 feet. Palo Duro Canyon has been called "The Grand Canyon of Texas," both for its size and for the dramatic geological features, including the multicolored layers of rock and steep mesa walls which are similar to those in the Grand Canyon.
