I doubt most of us would dogpile him in an MP game automatically. But I'm sure his lack of tact would make it hard for him to get cooperation. Not one of his strengths. And any player that thinks getting cooperation from others in an MP game isn't a skill, must be a really lonely person in RL.

The last 7 player game I played everyone ganged up on me and I killed them one after another. The only way you would be able to survive being next to me is to play on Deity in which case I wouldn't be playing anyway because it would be a slow and boring game. If I want slow and boring I"ll go play Civ4.

Some thoughts about all dogpiling on Eyes:

In a game that would definitely be played until the "end" (whenever that might be), the chance of all other players allying against him are really low. Everyone wants to win and the mere reputation or lack of tact of one player do not make him a target for all others together. When it's about winning, realpolitik becomes the major force and it would rather result in changing alliances between those 7 players.

But since everyone knows that games are almost never really finished off until the end, mostly decided by score, and since many don't mind score victories, the chances of a gang bang on Eyes increase rapidly.

Therefore, a 7 players game with Eyes in it (4 players is not enough, you just want this because it's the one setting that resembles duel characteristics the most) can only be effectively done with code names.

Because I've got insult-bot trolls like you, Drakuciogie, on my ignore list, which filters most of the time-wasting no-content messages out of here. Thanks to this thread, I put EoN there too. I was just wondering why such an obvious troll isn't banned entirely from the site.

I'm not sure why MJW is defending EoN to the point of trying to snipe people attacking him. Perhaps he is an idealist who has never had the unpleasant experience of a won game against EoN.

I'm not defending Eyes. I'm defending some of his points he brought and inane attacks against him. I got into this because I wanted to see if Eyes is for real.

If there is an MP game with Eyes I would be willing to keep the code names.

I think he's just trying to be fair...
EoN is one of the better Civ II players (especially on his settings, which he will defend to the death while claiming all other settings suck and are for people who don't understand the game... blah... blah... blah )

And many of us who know EoN are having fun attacking his normal comments on the game and about the players... The old "themes" of possible cheating, not reporting games, lack of proof, settings discussions, who is the best, who sucks... A game we've all played before.

And the point of his putting this thread in the OTF instead of the Civ II MP forum... Most of the old Civ II MP players no longer visit the Civ II forums... but can be found here. And the number of old Civ II MPers responding in this thread vs the thread he set up in the Civ II forums proves that this might have been the best way to try to get a game set up.

However, some people are joining the thread with an "improper" spirit, and are just attacking him personally for no other reason than to do so... To me, those are the jerks who don't seem to get it.

Yeah... as even EoN admits, he's abrasive (probably an under statement ) And some people are just dog piling him with insults that have nothing to do with the point of the thread.

This is your classic chest beating thread... and the minor flaming should relate to the topic on hand, and not just random people jumping in and throwing insults around to amuse themselves.
