To all civ2 MPers that I used to play

OzzyKP won a game against me in one of his first Civ4 games. Basically that game proved beyond a doubt everything I said about this game. OzzyKP I have known since 1999. The guy was terrible at civ2, he had no civ skills. The mirror map was ridiculous, it had no horses on it or something like that. Anyway, he won at the end by building a bunch of cities the final turn to get his points up. He didn't do anything to win. I killed more units, I killed more cities, I had a better tech lead. He won because he abused one of the many flaws of the game, the point system. That game proved to me beyond a doubt how ****ed up the game was. It also proved me how useless tech leads were and that it was actually better to move at the same pace as the other guy. I was doing an Xbow rush with machinery and needless to say it was a waste. Normal cheaper units in mass beats it easily and I spent so many god damn turns researching it because of the stupid ****ING tech system. His response to when I asked him what he did to win pretty much sums up the game and civ 4 "I didn't give up and in Civ4 that counts for something." There were no special tactics, no city building (seriously, why do people think there is any skill in clicking on the next building to be built?), all he did was grind it out and take advantage of the system. YAY!! Civ4=Rush early and win in 20 turns or spend the next 250 trying to get a lead.

Oh, and the combat system in Civ4 is probably one of the worst systems in the history of gaming. When I last played, wars had degenerated into mass catapult+axeman stacks being thrown at each other with no one able to get a lead. Everyone turned on stack attack and mashed the numerical keypad to be the first to attack. Really really sad. I think I could write a book on why this game is so screwed.

I good a idea would be to have EyesOfNight play a 7 game match against Krill. The loser (if they go down by two games or more) shuts up forever. Of course, you would have to get someone to play the game for them because it will turn into OMG you cheated. Night's stlye is likly like Fischer's or Korchnoi's. Weak talet but lots of experence.

MJW, seriously, you really need to leave this thread. Have you ever even played MP before? Also, I already downloaded Civ4 a couple months ago to start playing again and deleted after a week of not being able to find a duel. I really have absolutely no desire to play that game and Krill and I both know he'll do everything he can to dick the settings again. Civ4 is simply not fun, and it's like slogging through mud. The only people who have been able to enjoy is beginners because it's been incredibly simplified and most of the skill has been taken out of it. ANYONE and I do mean ANYONE can be good at Civ4 if they have half a brain. There's really nothing special you can do in it to be better than everyone else. So in other words, it's not worth my time. If the option to completely and totally dominate isn't there then I don't want to play.

Oh, I've played a few years ago. But I've forgoten Civ4's gameplay because I quit (after I saw that MP was broken). Because the ladder's all aready dead there is nothing left but bragging rights. That might be enough for you.

This asummes that you are not lying to us. All you need to do is post something that proves that you where good at Civ4. If you are good you are likely right. If not this thread is all BS.
