What's the problem? Quit being a whiny *****. If you're unfriendly, people won't be friendly back to you. Which should be OK with you, if what you are saying is true. Sometimes you've got to go on the warpath. It's just business and you're getting the job done. Does the boss reward results? If not, then pack your bags. It's time to move on, when you get a chance.
IIRC, you've had this job for at least a year. And the job was a definite move up. So look at it as a good stepping stone and, when the time is right, move on.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
The approach that "I am important and trying to do my job while you are not and in my way" does tend to get you raises in pay and promoted. However, many folks who follow that path feel miserable and unappreciated in their work. That feeling seems to be a price one pays for being hard-driving and mission-focused at the expense of one's humanity. Changing jobs won't fix that unless you work in an environment where the business requires that focus or people will die (or along those lines). Switch to defense or police-style work to get positive reinforcement for the attitude.
OR switch the attitude to one that's a bit gentler. A lot of people enjoy their work at least in part for the relationships they develop there. When they feel appreciated, they do better work at a faster pace.
Up to you: live with the consequences, switch to a grimmer set of folks, or ease up on people.
No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai

He hates me because, at work, I’m not a loveable huggable type of guy. He says that I don’t laugh or smile enough at work and it intimidates my employees. BS, imo. I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to do a job and I do it pretty damn fvcking well too. And besides, do I look like freaking Sunday morning cartoon show?!
A laughing and smiling coworker makes the environment more tolerable. On my team we're almost all laughing/joking and it's fun. Someone who is serious all the time is a bit stressful as a whole. Consider loosening up a bit.
He says that only because he heard that from employees…So what? Where ever I worked in my life, my boss has never been my friend, I was there to do a job, and I did it. And the reason I got the promotion I got is because of my big mouth and my hard head and I don’t let people walk all over me...They told me so, but now, its too much…
Make up your fcking mind.
They're not mutually exclusive. As you may know, I've got a big mouth and a hard heard and don't let people walk all over me...but at the same time I'm rather jovial and smile a lot.
It’s not a ****ing party, its work, welcome to the real world.
Work can be something other than menial labour with grim faces.
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "
Why do you need people to tell you that it's ok to be a jerk?
I want opinions, make a whole, and decide afterwards.
See, you think I'm a jerk for not smiling all the time. Cort and LS think otherwise. Asher is middle man of what I can see and suggest I change a bit...and so on...
That's why.
If the majority here thinks I am wrong, then I must be. Well see in time.

I dont have a problem with that. The big boss does. And I dont see what the problem is if the job is 100% done. Maybe he just has to find something wrong and that's the only thing he could find...

The better question is why are you coming to an offtopic forum on a computer game site for opinions?
More sources. I dont ask anyone employed at my job, because ethically, I cant...And answers could/would be biased.
Kind of like a survey Einstein. Here people dont care and answer what they think...some, like you, just troll and dont answer the OP, so they dont count.

Did he use it as an excuse to withhold a pay raise? Does he ultimately judge you in your paycheck on things other than the performance of your group?
He could say bad things about your style, but ultimately reward performance. If this is the case, then just follow what is being communicated to you through your paycheck.

I don't see any self ownage there, especially since he conveniently hacked off the final part of the quote. In addition, I have already stated why I feel that college degrees are by and large a waste of money and fail in their undertaking. You also just proved the reason why I asked your reasons for getting opinions from people on an internet gaming forum. You obviously have no one in your life you can turn to for an honest assessment of your actions and demeanor. I should also note that just by looking for opinions you feel you may be acting inappropriately. Lack of confidence and a need for social approval...definitely Canadian.

No, not yet. I did get 3 raises in less than a year though. But I didn't get them from the owner (the one that says I should be more like Barney the dragon.)

But the thing is that I get my raises from my direct boss. The business owner is against the raises I get from my direct boss.
