Make up your mind man-- you were the first one to mention my bank account etc etc. If you want to keep it macro we can talk about the thousands and thousands of workers that are making very good money in Alberta and elsewhere.

Maybe you should move?? If you have a strong back I'm sure you could get 90-110K as a scaffolder plus 3 squares a day and a room at the camps

      • Why would you go to Alberta when you could go to some other oil-infested hellhole that doesn't have Asher in it?
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

See this seems to be your problem. You think that people can do anything they want in an instant. Chavez can instantly make everyone rich in Venezuela of everyone there can move to Alberta. I don't know how to help you with that.

Nope I know that things take time-- But you have been moaning on here for a couple of years-- LOts of time to acquire a good marketable skill and locate yourself somewhere with a reasonable job market.

AS for Venezuela, you were the one saying there was too much money there-- I was just pointing out that it hasn't really made its way down to the masses of the very poor

                        • It wont do any good to explain to him why pumping more cash into Venezuela wont make the people there any better off or why this is not about why he is more successful than I am. And I can't figure out a way to make him see what the real problem is so I'll just keep repeating it.

                            Which perceptions are those?

On Venezuela I have information from available media, 3 venezuelans I work with plus a boss that worked there but his information is pretty dated

On life in North America, I grew up in rural Newfoundland in an area with staggering unemployment and now live in Calgary in a time where demand for workers exceeds supply and where some of the WORST wages are those paid by government

So which perceptions exactly are so screwed up?

so buying goods and services or building better houses won't make his people better off -- Please explain since I find the idea that more money cannot help alleviate the consequences of poverty to be ludicrous

Show me where I ever started making things about that. I talked generally about favorable labour market conditions and responded politely to your shot about my bank account and pigdog capitalism

                              • Oh and kid -- Right from the start I supported the right of Chavez to do what he did-- If a mayor wants cheap fuel and Chavez thinks the publicity/cause is worth the price, it is within their rights to do the transaction.

I still think the money would be better spent in his own country though
