Richest? Doesn't bloody feel like that. It may have some of the richest people, but it also has some of the lowest living standards in real terms.

      Let me count the ways.

Weapons of mass destruction, human rights abuses, liberating the people from an evil dictatorship, introducing much needed market reforms, combatting terrorism, arresting a leader accused of alleged crimes against humanity, pre-empting an attack on a neighbour, saving the kittens...

That's a problem with how you share wealth, i.e it's a political problem that you guys can and should solve. There's plenty of wealth in London that could be redistributed, if your pols had any balls, if your poor organized, and if your rich weren't so greedy.

There's much less wealth to be shared in Venezuela.

I agree that there is certainly much less overall wealth in Venezuela.

In my view, the problem with living standards in London all stems from house prices, and the supply and demand equation. Lack of new housing outside London, due to 'green belt' NIMBY dogma coupled with 'propertied classes' of government and media enjoying their booming asset value. Allied to this is the failure to economically regenerate other parts of the country.

The Venezuelian worker doesn't have an access to the same mountain of tax money than the Londoner, so this priority is absolutely not straight.
So if wealth is being exploited from the poor in a country the poor there shouldn't get help from other countries?

Its just funny/odd for a country with much less relative wealth and many more intensely poor people using national resources to assist the (much better off) "poor" of a much richer nation.

The same is true for Sevenoaks. Sevenoaks ain't in the slightest a part of London, so what's the point you are making? It's not as if withdrawing from the administrative auspice of London will make Bromley better off.
