I don't like to be around gay people. I'm homophobic. It shouldn't be in the world

How about Homophobes?
Is it ok to hate them too or are the people that say they hate them just as bad as they are. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I don´t see his problems. There seem to be lots of homophobic protestant parishes and groups throughout the United states. Maybe more than, for example, in europe.
Sounds to me like he shouldn´t have problems to join one of these groups and be among people who think alike.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

He's entitled to his postition but would probably have been best served by keeping his mouth shut. Unless it was nazi's that he hated, of course. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Well, if he would use his homphobia to move to another country he should better use Iran or any other country under the Sharia.
After all they kill homosexuals there. The best place not to encounter a single man who is openly gayTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

My point, as it were, would be that the vocal opposition to same-sex marriage boils down to two main points:
1. It's forbidded by $RELIGION.
2. It will/may have negative consequences.
Point 1 may be true for many values of $RELIGION but should be considered irrelevant to the secular laws of a modern pluralistic state.
Point 2 is increasingly invalidated by observation of how an increasing number of countries have enacted such marriage laws (or various half-measures such as the "registered partnerships" available in Scandinavia), and time keeps passing, and the putative negative consequences remain conspicuous by their absence.

Indeed, I don't see a denial there.
Kind of sad when the Democratic Republic of the Congo is more tolerant than you are, isn't it?
I'm pretty sure that turkey and Jordan have penalties on being gay.
Iraq would probably too.
Don't know enough about the Arabian peninsula.
