High Five exchange at LBJ and Central is amazing.

I was driving through houston a few months ago and it was at their peak rush hour. 3 hours just to get to where traffic was flowing at 55 mph. Granted i am not sure what hiway i was since i wasnt driving but i know i was headed back to sa. For dallas and i dont now how close this is to main dallas, but i was in garland, and their gas stations were all dry.

Garland is in far north Dallas. Northeast.

          3 hours? That's insane.

The worst I have ever seen is in Vancouver, but we would never be sitting in traffic for 3 hours trying to get through the city.

          Maybe an hour at most.

The trffic out in the dalas area seemed way better then houton and even in austin. Austin at peak times comes a second close to houston only cause the area is grwoing so fast and the roads cant keep up

Well I was always impressed by San Antonio.

You guys have awesome roads, much much better then up here where the largest you might see is 4 lanes.

Have you even looked at city sizes at all, just as a start?

America's largest city is New York City, by far. See how the country's other big cities compare, ranked by order of population.

Dallas alone is twice as big as Indy.
Now, realize how often you hear Dallas-Ft. Worth, and then think about surrounding suburbs.
Ft. Worth is not so much smaller than Indy.
Houston is sprawling, but it's by itself.

How is northern Dallas? That's about where we would probably be living.

                        The best. Where I live.
Richardson is where I live and have since 1966; and butt up against, but in Collin County to the north, is Plano.
Both have outstanding schools, if that's a consideration.
Both have access to rail system.

Don't hold me against Texas, Abilene (West Texas birth town), Dallas, or Richardson.
                          I exasperate them, too. So...

                            Cool

My wife is choosing between a job at U NT and U H. Odd, eh, a national search would end up between two tx schools.

Verto is going to school in Denton. Much smaller, but there's a lot to speak for it.
It's primarily a college town, and situated near several lakes.
Away from Dallas, but not so far that it makes going to Dallas a big chore.
I wouldn't want to commute from there to Dallas daily, but some people do it.

Interesting that most say Houston traffic is worse then Dallas. I have always felt Dallas is worse then Houston. Rarely have I sat in traffic mid-day in Houston, and twice earlier this year, around lunch time I was stalled on I35E close to downtown, and on 635 by the Galleria.

But it might all be not knowing when to take the roads or how to avoid the traffic in the Dallas area, and which ones to take in the Houston area.

I was driving through houston a few months ago and it was at their peak rush hour. 3 hours just to get to where traffic was flowing at 55 mph. Most likely I-10 which is the busiest in Houston, and expanding to about 12 lanes (20 if you count the HOV lanes and feeder), which might be finished in a couple more years
