I was only playing the same game as you, where you ASSUMED he hit the cop (innocent until proven guilty) and you ASSUMED he did other things, and you ASSUMED he was out of control.

The FACTS are he OPENED A PRESENT EARLY and was ARRESTED FOR IT.

The FACTS are she's psychotic and should pay for all legal costs associated with the stunt.

The article said he took a swing at an officer. Not too much of an assumption there.

But yes from the mother's comments I inferred that the child is a problem child. That doesn't seem too much of a stretch but you're right there, it's an assumption.

However, I'm the one that keeps saying I would like to see more history before making a judgement. I think it's in almost all my posts.

Has it even been proven he opened the present early? I mean it could be the local cops, and his whole family are in a conspiracy get to him, cause he is bravely protesting against President Bush. Please dont ASSUME things.

Actually his mother was neglecting him by hopping flights to Toronto to hang out in seal clubs. Seems she has a thing for marine mammals. FACT.

Me, I go by the facts. The fact is he opened a present early. In fact, the implication has been he's been opening the present, playing the game, and putting it back for some time now. Then his mother called the police about this, had him arrested, went to church, then came back. Charges are still pending against him for this.

Facts being as they are, this is ridiculous.

I think in his defense he can point out discrepencies of the calender for the past 2006 years and argue that christmas was actually last week.

Here's a shocker...a lawyer in favour of unnecessary legal involvement.

I don't see how you guys can assume he massively is in need of being scared straight. I have NO idea why you guys think his hitting of a cop is really relevant.

He should absolutely be charged for swinging at a cop.
He should not be charged for opening a present early.

Learn what is relevant and acceptable punishment.

What I'd like to see is why you all think this kid is so out of control. How do you know he's not beaten by his mother? How do you know he wasn't beaten by his father? How do you know he's not suffering from mental problems? How do you know his mom isn't a simply incompetent parent (the ADHD "diagnosis" usually indicates they are incompetent).

You guys are all making assumptions here that the mother is this poor victimized soul who's son randomly started acting out. You all should take some development psychology and child psychology classes, they can be enlightening. There are reasons for this, and throwing him in the slammer for this is solves nothing, but costs taxpayers money.
