He opened a Christmas present early.

Somebody needs to whack y'all with a cluebat for some perspective here.

It wasn't his yet. Not until Christmas. Point being if they were that hard up for cash and he was acting like a jerk 9 chance out of 10 it was likely they might have returned it to teach the kid a lesson. Can't do it now.

The kid has issues the parent needs help. I can only imagine how single parents pull this stuff off considering raising two kids with both me and my wife taking a very active role.

THAT"S JUST THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK
He ASSUALTED A POLICE OFFICER earlier.
We don't know what else he has done.
SHOULD SHE WAIT TILL HE KILLS SOMEONE.

Yes, you do need some perspective here.

I would like to have more history though.

She even said she was just trying to teach him a lesson.

She wasn't sending him to SING SING. Geeze

            This is absolutely stunning.

He "assaulted a police officer" -- great, so charge him for that.
"He may have done OTHER THINGS!"
            "He may KILL PEOPLE!"

He was playing a GAMEBOY that his great-grandmother was to give to HIM.

You guys are INSANE if you're going to take this and start stringing it along and even discussing MURDER. CHRIST.

            Clearly:
            1) The mother is inept
            2) Most American parents are inept
            3) The American justice system is SO screwed up
            4) Americans lack common sense.
            5) The kid is screwed up (hitting a cop, among other things), and he should be arrested for real crimes, not for this. All you're teaching him now is you can do this and get away with it, because you KNOW no judge is going to punish him for this. It tells him that even if mommy calls the cops, you're a juvie so nothing will happen.

Yes the kid has behavioural problems.
Yes the mother has parenting problems.
No the answer isn't to waste police and court time on this nonsense.

I sincerely hope that this goes to court where the judge can order them both to take some counselling: her to some parenting classes on how to control your child, and him to some anger management type class.

And all of you supporting this simply need to sterilize yourselves.

Which is why he needs to be waterboarded at a minimum.

You may as well support beating him to within an inch of his life.

After all, HE MAY MURDER SOMEONE! WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE HE'S DONE! Eh Rah?

                  Amazing.

This is true that Sony and Apple sales are lower per capita in Canada than the USA.

Hey, I've never been shy saying that I support corporal punishment when child rearing was concerned. And maybe the lack of it these days is the reason why you think most parent are inept.

It was used on me, and I think my mother did a heck of job trying to raise three wild boys all born within 18 months of each other. All of us turned into respected members of the community. (well maybe not this community )

And yes, he should have been arrested for assulting the officer.

And no, teaching the kid a lesson for probably breaking his grandmother's heart is not that excessive.

BUT again I would like more history. This mother obviously sounded quite frustrated.

They should have arrested the mother...

                          So what?

That's no excuse for wasting police and court time.

If I were this kid, the next time his mother touches him I'd call the police and get her charged with assault. Two can play that stupid, stupid game.

Most Canadians support seal clubbing. And also clubbing people who "respect" cops who did not press charges against drunk drivers, like rah.

Good for him. He gets to live as a ward of the state. Maybe even luck out and live awith some of those pedophile foster parents.
