Except no one would consider it a divided championship anymore than they would if some other poll voted someone other than the Champion first.

What are you talking about? USC won the AP title a mere three years ago while LSU took the BCS title. I don't see many people outside of Louisiana saying that USC's claim to the 2003 national title is invalid...

Bo built the foundation for the modern-day Michigan program. He defined what it meant to be a Michigan Man. All the coaches after him have been Michigan Men. Maybe not the best game coaches, but they have run a good program and kept the Michigan tradition. That means something here.

I think it is a shame that the Big Ten champion doesn't automatically go to the Rose Bowl anymore to play the Pac 10 champ. It's just not the same nowadays.
Bo won a national championship, in 1989. He was the AD of Michigan that year, and selected Steve Fisher after his coach had taken the job at ASU; the team then went on to win the tournament.

Anyway, championships aren't the only thing you judge a college football coach by.

You also must not approve of high school football, middle school football, little league football because they all have playoffs.

Playoffs have nothing to do with academics. But they are the only tfair way to decide a league champion.
Oh, I don't care one way or the other about playoffs. What I care about is the money and the 'need' for a champion. College football has the incredible tradition of the bowl games, and I think that's too valuable to throw away for what I would consider nearly meaningless playoffs. The NCAA tournament in basketball is also a cool tradition, and I'd never get rid of it unless academics became an issue.

I really feel that the only answer to this is going to be making a semipro college level league, where the 'best' football players can go to 'learn' football. Then they can be paid, they can have playoffs, the TV stations can make their fortunes, and the rest of the nation can have a more relaxed college football attitude.

Oh, and the silly recruiting insanity will be turned down a notch also ...

I've about decided I'm going to cheer Michigan, vs. Ohio State.

              Per ESPN:

              • Scouts: UM 27, OSU 24
              • Sim: OSU 28, UM 20

Something tells me that points will be a premium in this game.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                  You said it, man.

On the other hand, I guess it's to be expected. Dying on the eve of the biggest OSU/Michigan game ever played. It's a compelling story, so the press will run with it. If Lllloyd had an ounce of charisma, he could have a "win one for the gipper" moment.

Neither would I, if I didn't grow up there and most of my family live there.

                                Example of bogus:

                                Western Carolina (2-8, 0-7 Southern)
                                (3) Florida (9-1, 7-1 SEC)

                                Near or at Halftime.

I wouldn't rank Florida, period. Candyasses.
