Boom today, bust tommorrow. Seen it many times. Just like the Flames. They sell out games now, but look a couple of seasons ago and 20% of the seats were unsold.

And Most of the people making money in Calgary come from some place else and cheer in their hearts for real teams like the Leafs and the Habs.

In the ranking of great Canadien teams in terms of being legendary, it's
    The Canadiens and the Leafs
    The Oilers
    The Nordiques
    The Canucks and the Jets
    The Flames and
    The Senators.

What do you call a bust for 40 years and going?

You gotta be kidding me? When was the last time you've been to Calgary?

You should be in Calgary around playoff time...if you think there's lots of Leafs supporters there you are VERY, very mistaken...

You really need to get off this whole "legendary", "historic", or "traditional" crap. None of it matters. We're playing a game today.

The only thing legendary about the leafs is their amazing 40 year plus run of ineptitude.

They've scraped into eighth? Wow, a pathetic team is proving better than a whole bunch of western losers. Now there's something to cheer about. Enjoy it while you can.

We? When was the last time you were on skates? Have you even played hockey?

As for the Flames, defensive hockey didn't work last year. It won't work this year.

And why shouldn't we? The leafs have lost more recently than the Flames. And our players are just getting warmed up.

Have you paid attention to our #1 line in the past few games? They're geling. Kipper has been incredible. Hamrlik has really stepped it up and is awesome.

Just wait til Phaneuf steps it up to complete the package, and you've got a lot going in the future.

The Flames are doing just what they did last year -- start slow, then string the wins together. The Leafs are going to do the same thing as last year too, choke and miss the playoffs.

I'm trying really hard to ignore the fact that someone from Hong Kong is making this comment.

What didn't work last year was the lack of a competent playmaker on the first line, not the style.

And if defensive hockey isn't the direction we want to go, why did the leafs spend so much on their defense?

Dude, I play hockey every week. I'll post photos if I can figure out how to down scale some photos.

                And you?

It's called balance. The Leafs only had two top defencemen last year who ended up playing too much. Gill and Kubina reduce their workload. But the Leafs style has totally changed. They're going offensive this year.

Haven't played hockey in a long time.

Still trying to figure out the relevance other than to display your desperation.

And do you play real hockey or do you play whack the ball with the stick and giggle uncontrollably like most of the HKers I've seen?

Oooo yeah, it's so much better this year. McCabe and Kaberle are down to what, 30 minutes a night?

Well, you talked about "we." So I'm just wondering.

In Hong Kong, We've got people playing for the first time and in the top division there are former Junior A guys and even a former NHLer (one season with the Canucks).

As for me, I play hard, but I'm **** compared to a lot of the guys here, particularly the young kids. Still, there are good nights when I can score a goal (very rare), wack someone without taking a penalty, make the nice clean pass, or finish the game without any goals scored while I'm on ice (I play defence). And just to hear the sound of blades scratching on ice, well, I forget about all the ****e and just enjoy in the moment.

So here's the thing, we trash each other here, but seriously. Find some ice time. You're in good shape so picking up the game will be easy for you. I'm sure you'll love it and it's a great workout.

Besides, ain't no skiing in Toronto.

And let's see if this picture works, just to show you how much of a Leafs fan I am.

We are clearly not playing NHL hockey, so I thought it would be obvious it was a royal we...

                      • Play hockey, and you won't even use the royal we. What even the worst player have in terms of skill, we can only dream of.

And when a player screws up, you'll be able to relate, a lot.

Torontonians relate to failure fairly easy, as I understand it.

Acually I was thinking of Tanguay, Phaneuf misplaying that Toronto rush and Kippersoft fluffing on an easy shot. But I guess you're used to the Flames incompetence. Then again, maybe you don't know what good hockey is all about.

Certainly not used to it, which is why everyone cried for Playfair's head when it happened.

The team flat-out sucked in October. And, like last year, is a force in November.

I'd like to see Sundin try that kind of shot on Kipper now...

                                Kippersoft

Do you really want to resort to use derogatory nicknames for the leading vezina candidate for the 2nd year in a row? Speak of the devil about "knowing good hockey", my oh my.

You know hockey so well you repeatedly dismissed Kiprusoff as a flash in a pan.
