Like vote, if you're going to vote straight party ticket.

That's retarded. Why should I be forced to vote when I don't feel that any candidate deserves my vote? I'm not "too lazy" to vote, I just find my options too worthless to vote for.

I'd be fine with a "none of the above" option; I'd vote for that, because at least that would be an affirmative, unequivocable voicing of my opinion that none of the candidates are worthy. The problem is that the "none of the above" option would win at least some of the time. What happens then?

I find the blank ballot option objectionable, though. You're not doing anything more by casting a blank ballot than you are by not voting at all, and a blank ballot leaves just as much room for interpretation as not voting. Maybe I don't know ow to fill out the card / use the voting apparatus properly. The government shouldn't force me to travel somewhere and wait in line just so I can refuse to vote. It's senseless.

I don't give a damn about governors. The Federal races are all that matters.

That's just woefully, pitifully shortsighted. Control of statehouses is the key factor in redrawing districts after the 2010 census. Ask Texas Democrats (the two or three that are left) if that matters...

They're also the most fertile fields from which to find Presidential candidates.

And states are important testing grounds for new policies. It'll be interesting to see, for instance, how a Spitzer-dominated NY will implement universal health care.

Arnold just vetoed SB 840. It would have provided full medical coverage for all California residents and would have saved Californians $9 billion during the first year alone.

Arnold killed SB 840, but Phil came out in favor of the bill.

If you want anything done local, you better be voting from city, to county to state.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. • my guess:

Why is everyone writing only the predicted # of Republican members of Congress? It creates an illusion that Republicans are the "default" party which one should vote unless one finds a reason to vote others. I'll do the reverse to balance the thread a little

                                Senate: 48 D
                                House: 218 D
                                Governors: 19 D

Republicans surprise the polls again with their "get out the vote"-efforts while the people who are paying for the pork and corruption GOP-dominated government is handing out in record amounts without receiving any of it are too busy having inner philosophical debates whether to vote or not in order to be TEH REBEL who is fed up with status quo, pulling the turnout of people who would vote Democrats down.
