It probably won't sway the partisan voters but it might effect those with open minds. A 32 year old waitress in Las Vegas has publically accussed the Republican candidate for governor of sexually assualting her in a public car parking lot. She says she will take a polygraph test and that the Republican has repeatedly offered her hush money which she has refused.

Las Vegas Woman Feels 'Safer' Knowing Her Story is Out

She is the Las Vegas woman who first accused gubernatorial candidate Jim Gibbons of assaulting her. Although Chrissy Mazzeo called 911 three times on Oct. 13th to report the incident, she declined to press charges.

Mazzeo, 32, says she just wants all of this to go away. But she says she is speaking out because -- in her words -- she feels "safer" knowing that her story has been told.

She claims that the congressman assaulted and propositioned her in a parking garage outside a Las Vegas restaurant after the two shared some drinks

Gibbons has said that he saw Mazzeo stumble in the parking garage and all he did was attempt to keep her from falling to the ground.

Her attorney says that she was pressured repeatedly -- and even offered money -- to drop her allegations.

Mazzeo spent almost an hour at a news conference Wednesday along with her attorney Richard Wright. She says Congressman Gibbons was not an "officer and a gentlemen" when the two met on Friday, Oct. 13.

Mazzeo also says she never slipped and fell on her way to her car, as Gibbons says she did. She also says that it was her friend that urged her to drop charges saying that friend warned her Gibbons had powerful friends.

Mazzeo said, "She just said if you don't drop the charges then basically, she said, they'll kill you, your baby and your family."

Reporter: "Who is they? That's all she said was they?"

Mazzeo: "She said, trust me, you are more naive than I am."

Richard Wright, Mazzeo's attorney, was highly critical of the Metro Police investigation. Wright singled out Sheriff Bill Young who admits he was the first to call Gibbons to tell him of the investigation.

Eyewitness News received a statement from Pennie Puhek Wednesday afternoon. She's the woman who Mazzeo says told her not to press charges.

Puhek categorically denies being involved with the Gibbons campaign or telling Mazzeo to drop her case.

Mazzeo says she would be willing to participate in an investigation but not one conducted by Metro.

Richard Wright says he's not planning on filing a lawsuit, but says a civil case may be possible down the road.

Also it just broke that his long-time maid was illegal. When visitors would come to his house, he'd tell the maid to go to the basement. Which is particularly embarrassing for him since he's running hard right on illegal immigrants.

I guess I should rephrase that it seems we will have two officially independent Senators both of whom will end up voting Democrat most of the time.

Sanders is not going to vote with the GOP most of the time. Lieberman, I suspect, is going to jump ship, since he gets all non-committal when the topic comes up.
