I am afraid I have to agree with NYE here. It appears that Jaguar may leave his three players playing tonight sitting on the bench . I sincerely hope he comes on and moves them to active in time, but if he doesn't does that mean you will jump in and move them to active? It seems to me taht Pekka isn't as interested in this as he thought he might be and while that is unfortunate, it seems you are penalizing everyone who has not yet played against him by taking an active role in his team. I hope we all actively monitor our rosters to ensure that we have the maximum number of players playing every week but if we don't I don't think we can ask anyone, commissioner or otherwise to have an influence on our team.

Further, if you were to start making decisions for his team it could open a whole can of worms as to your motives for specific choices, which while they may be honourable could still lead to the accusations and comments that Asher refers to above.

But that's just a newbie perspective

In any case, it was all a bunch of hot air. The Kariya <-> Huet trade wasn't as lopsided as a bunch of people here told everyone it was. They just didn't follow hockey well enough to recognize the value a hot goalie has in a pool where half the stats came from goalies.

I didn't realize until 20 minutes ago that it had no influence on the "rights" if you picked up and dropped a player in the same day. I suspect it is the same for Hot Mustard and that we have answered that question. Therefore I think we can safely move on with all of us a little more knowledgable. Hopefully no long term harm done.

Oh good grief - I should have known better. No, Asher, that was not an attack on you. No, I am not suggesting you or anyone else has made improper moves.

As I mentioned, and others have observed, making those kind of moves no longer results in the players ending up on the waiver wire (sabotaging players available to others).

However, I was not going to assume that everyone realized that. Uninformed poolies might have seen that mass of movement (with three players ultimately not picked up), and thought of that former tactic. My desire was to inform them that it doesn't work, and that any similar BS won't be tolerated.

And for the record, while I'm a fan of good natured trash talk, I personally detested the digusting battles between some people last year, and in no way want to see that repeated.

I would humbly request that those of you that enjoy trolling, provoking and other such activities keep it out of the hockey threads - there are plenty of other topics you can bait and inflame each other in.

In the future, I wouldn't quote somebody's moves and then quote the rules after if you're not trying to draw a connection.

Yeah, sorry. I just posted it in a hurry upon seeing the moves. I should've at least included a in my comment (joke) about you not making up your mind.

My only intent in stepping into Pekka's team would be to maintain a somewhat competitive balance in the league. All I would do is make sure players play when they're eligible - I would never make a judgement call by strategically trying to sit someone if I didn't think they'd contribute enough or might detract from certain stats. I also would never make any transactions beyond the current roster. None of this would involve changing Pekka's status at all - he could freely come back any time without letting me know. Of course, as soon as he made a move, I'd stop setting his roster.

I realize this would be imperfect, but the reality is nothing would be ideal. If Pekka comes back right now, which is what I'd like best, it's still not fair because his opponents up to now have gotten a free ride. Same thing if we found someone else to actively run his team. The most fair in that regard would be to totally freeze the team as it is right now so that everyone faces the exact same situation, but then we have a dead team.

I'll give him some more time to respond, and we can discuss this further if everyone feels like it. Just please keep in mind the issues I've raised above. In the meantime, perhaps some of you can also try to convince Pekka to get more involved.
