A couple more points from Wikipedia,

Lidle's Cirrus was equipped with a Ballistic Recovery System, a parachute designed to bring the whole plane down to earth safely in case of an emergency.

    ..citing The New York Times.

This recovery system was apparently not deployed, despite the plane flying along the East River immediately prior to the crash, a location one would think logical for such a deployment, if indeed there were serious difficulties in controlling the plane. It dropped off the radar over the East River, near the 59th Street Bridge.

    And,

..attracted no special attention from air traffic controllers or NORAD before the crash. The aircraft took a hard 90-degree turn before it hit the building.

    .. citing CNN, among others.

A hard 90-degree turn, hmm.. almost as if someone was aiming for something.

BRS are unreliable, and assure that the plane will drop. A pilot attempting to retain or regain control of a plane would never deploy one.

Hardly. A turn that sharp in a plane of that type would almost certainly be uncoordinated, and yaw would make the flight path unpredictable. Depending on attitude and airspeed, it would also likely induce a stall, probably unrecoverable in the available altitude.

If you're aiming for something, you set up a coordinated turn and approach straight on.

                  MichaeltheGreat,

Ming has told you, twice now, to stop this crap. How many times does he have to do so before you get the general idea and stick to the subject of this thread or, failing that, shut the **** up?

It's not like I'm going to debate anything with you after the way you've behaved yourself here, I just don't see why you keep baiting me when Ming told us to cut it out.

                      @ Winston

I just replied to your post, which insinuated that my post to which you replied referred to you. If you want to read into it, that's your problem.

I don't care if you "reply" to my pointing out the total lack of factual basis for your conspiracy, er, suicide, fallacy. Grasp at all the straws you want - if I feel like pointing out that they are straws, I will. If I don't, I won't. You have nothing to do with the process.

There's no evidence that this wasn't a garden variety, standard light plane accident. Nothing you've posted has changed that in the slightest.

We were told to cut the personal crap, and you continued it, in spite of Ming warning against it twice.

Now could we end this futile and childish exercise?

The 90 degree turn is quite indicative of mechanical failure... as one of the major ways you get mechanical failure in an airplane is loss of control over the elevators. If either one of them got stuck, or there was a loss of pneumatic pressure (or electric power, not sure if most wing elevators are electric or pneumatic these days in small planes?), you'd have a hard 90 degree turn.

The BRS should never be deployed in a city. The pilot's first job is to crash in the water or somewhere else where he won't kill anyone other than himself.

No, I stopped it twice, when told to do so by the moderator. You continued it, twice, and I asked you to stop it, twice.
