I'm sorry, but people usually don't just accidentally fly into high rise buildings.

And what about the people who died in the apartment building? How about a little sympathy for them, and not just the suicidal celebrity?

      Hey, dumbass:

There is no confirmation of fatalities in the building. (edit - there's one, other than the pilot, according to FDNY) All indications are that the crash was accidental, due to mechnical failure or possibly a combination of mechanical failure and pilot error.

The apartment building is a friggin' block from the East River, so it ain't like it's in the middle of Manhattan. The plane was reported to be turning when it went out of control, lost altitude and went into the building.

There's also nothing to indicate that the plane was out of its designated VFR route until the pilot reported problems with the plane to (La Guardia?) tower.

        From cnn http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/10/11/plane.crash/index.html :

Witness Henry Neimark, who is also a pilot, said he saw a plane flying at relatively low altitude which seemed to come from LaGuardia International Airport.

"It looked to me in retrospect that this was a pilot desperately trying to get back to the airport and land safely on a runway," he said.

Too bad he mouthed off at the Phillies after he got dealt. I might feel worse otherwise. Still - senseless death is kind of sad no matter who is involved.

There are 3 fatalities in the apartment building, according to Wikipedia. Dumbass.

And regardless of what the official story is going to be (an accident will scare people less so than a deliberate act), how often do you recall seeing planes accidentally hitting skyscrapers slam dunk in the center and ca. 3/4 of the way up?

                Dumbass.

Actually I think young Winston doesnt quite envision the urban layout of upper Manhattan. I suppose Hong Kong is denser. If youre over the east river and are turned west, it would be hard NOT to hit a building. If you have an MS flight sim, take a look. Or do a google earth on upper Manhattan (the part east of Central Park).

                    I think it fits nicely.

I do envision Upper Manhattan quite well, thank you. I stayed for 10 days last year at a hotel 13 streets from the site of today's crash.

You hit a building like that right in the center, horisontally, and it is no accident. A little common sense will go a long way toward this realisation.

Hmm, which to trust... Winston's "common sense", or the facts of the case. Man, what a tough choice....really, terribly tough choice there.

Winston, there are thousands of highrises in NYC. I don't think it's improbable to accidently crash into one.

winston, if the plane if flying at an even, what is it, pitch yaw? its gonna hit horizontally. Right in the center? Do we know the spot to the inch were the nose hit? Its as likely to hit in the central third as in, say the left third.

Wow Winston, I didn't realize that you were an aviator, lecturing for us how easy it is to fly and direct an airplane. How many airplanes have you piloted?

As I said before, slam dunk center, horisontally, about 3/4 of the way up.
