I do find it interesting that people who are willing to beat people up over the fact that they burn the American flag stand up and say with a straight face that the Confederate flag is just a flag and people shouldn't get so out of shape about it.

You are continuing to throw up strawmen. It doesn't matter how many people owned slaves. The fact that the people who RAN THINGS in the South owned slaves is good enough. And the fact that Northerners were racists was never denied by MrFun or anyone else. However, those Klan members in the North also used the Confederate battle flag, showing its symbolic power for racist ends.

Sure did, loved that show as a kid. Watched it once in College and it was painful - not because of the Confed Flag on the General Lee, but because the show just sucked. It's right about at a 10 year old level.

we all were challenged to talk to a black person to see what they thought of the flag. seems im the only one that mentioned i did and the couple i spoke to said its nothing to them, to the thier great grandparents maybe.. to them get over it already and move the **** into the new melenium!!!!!!! And slowwy has a point the confederate flag was on top of the general LEE and i didnt hear on freaking complaint of that flag being on that car for as long as the tv series ran. so agian its all about picking and choosing what is offensive and who brings it up

Imran pointed out the fact that I belong to some other minority group -- being gay, I didn't point that out. But on the other hand, being a member of any minority group definitely gives me a different perspective than I would otherwise have.

Why should it matter whether you are gay or not. Imran cited it because it is supposed to be relevant to the issue at hand. It may give you a unique perspective, but it doesn't have anything to do with the Confederacy or with slavery. Why should being gay have anything to do with racial discrimination? No one knows you are gay unless you choose to tell them.
