Um, that's what I said; you even quoted it. Others had to go and figure that they had to look for other stars that blew except 4,000 years before, but I repeat myself. So, what was your point?

While I was wrong about there being a physical button to push, the it remains that I was right about the fact that what he was looking for was right in his face, but was too dense to figure it out until the moment he saw the star kerploding. Everyone else was relying on him to lead the group and figure this all out in a more timely manner since his father was a priest or whatever while everyone else focussed on keeping the Cylons at bay. Galactica barely jumped away in time due to his duhs and ums and uhs. They should have sent President Roslin since she's high on peyote all the time, but then the episode would have been tamer.

The fact that you were so wrong about it makes my point entirely. It was "staring at him in the face", which YOU THOUGHT WAS A PUSH BUTTON! Yeah, take Chief to task for something you completely and totally missed yourself .

He saw the Nova and was the only one realize: Hey, that's the sign. Maybe it was because the symbol was staring at him in the face, but no one else made the connection and Chief wasn't the only one to see it. Galactica barely made it away in time because the star had to nova to show Chief what the eye was. NO ONE ELSE would have gotten it earlier unless they saw the show before .

Hindsight is 20/20. You, who said 'push the button', and how it couldn't possibly be something that's a 'death wish' think that anyone else could have found out that it stood for a nova . That's funny. I mean if he was too dense to figure it out until the nova, what does that make you?!

          So yeah, he vindicated himself.

What are you talking about? I already acknowledged I was wrong about it being a button, but I was not wrong about the symbol right frakking in front of him being the key.

He saw the Nova and was the only one realize: Hey, that's the sign. Maybe it was because the symbol was staring at him in the face, but no one else made the connection and Chief wasn't the only one to see it.
Congratulations, you've stated what we already saw in the episode. Have a cookie or something.

Huh? My point about Roslin was that, being president, she was probably informed of the star's status as a ticking time bomb soon after Galactica realized the peril and, being she is a bit of a religious nut that hallucinates and has had useful visions, she might have figured out the puzzle sooner than the guy who is a lapsed Colonial Pantheist that barely remembers much of anything useful from his early childhood living with his priest father.

And stating the obvious is... what?

You, who said 'push the button',
            *Sigh* Already addressed.

and how it couldn't possibly be something that's a 'death wish'
Oh now what are you going on about?

think that anyone else could have found out that it stood for a nova . That's funny. I mean if he was too dense to figure it out until the nova, what does that make you?!
It makes me and everyone else not President/Priestess Roslin...

            So yeah, he vindicated himself.
            lol Still no... LOL

They could have had more fun with this episode sending Roslin down and having her hallucinate a few times. Hell, they could have written it such that she figures it out earlier, the Colonials vacate the planet, the Cylons moved in, and Cmdr. Adama could have ordered the temple booby trapped, killing Xenabot and the Weasel. Everybody wins! But no, all we got were shots of the Chief grimacing and staring blankly at the stone pillar. Exhilarating.

So basically you are making **** up (Roslin would have figured it out... because... she's.. uh... something) because you've been shown wrong about the Chief. Your entire argument rests on Roslin MAY have recieved a hallucination when standing in front of the symbol .

Just give it up and realize Chief was vindicated for not 'doing the obvious thing' and pushing the button. He figured it out and I see absolutely no argument that Roslin would have done it faster than he.

                  • I think giving the Chief an episode was a good decision.

                    • I hope there's an explanation for why the Chief suddenly just happened to find the place. Did he really identify the landscape from old writings and just figured out that there must be a temple here somewhere? And then he chances upon it. It probably has something to do with the way Starbuck "has a destiny" and painted the symbol earlier. Maybe they're two of the Final Five?

                      • All things considered, this argument done away with, it doesn't change the fact that the Chief is one of the dullest tools in the ragged shed that is Galactica.

Baltar's one of the sharpest, but he's also all weirdly bent out of shape.

                        • It struck me as out of character, the way he just stood there staring at the pillar. I mean, he's a mechanic, right? Works with his hands? I would have thought he'd have gotten his hands on it, trying to see if there were a button, or even just to get the physical feel of it (which might have triggered a memory). It didn't seem right, the way it happened - he looked dumb as a, um, post.

Have you watched the show AT ALL before this episode? They've written her character as one who receives visions now and then (the Cylon that was dispatched out the airlock, Baltar with Caprica 6 in a courtyard on Caprica, and I believe she had a similar vision experience when looking at survey maps of the planet they then realized was Kobol where the map room was located) as well as becoming more well-versed in their pantheist Bible after the loss of the high priestess on Kobol. Having her going to the temple instead of the Chief would have worked a whole lot better than introducing in this episode the new notion that he had any sort of religious background, let alone that his father was a priest. It was an unnecessary and rather annoying attempt to flesh out the Chief's character. They could have found a better way to do that and just left the temple to Roslin.

That's what I'm getting at: Having the chief go was... odd.
