Take some deep breaths, dude. You're still gonna win. It probably won't even be a last-possession type of game.

This is something that I don't understand. He has no loyalty to USC? I should think that they successfully brainwashed him during his 3 years there.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. I still think it will be a full 7 point win, so no last possession type of game. But the collective wisdom seems to indicate otherwise, so...

I dunno, man, seems like everyone is in agreement on this one. All the Detroit papers are picking ND. Christ, even the U-M student paper has the Irish winning by 6.

Well, it's my sense that Michigan is better than Penn State, and the game last week could have been a lot closer with several fewer Penn State mistakes and Penn State capitalizing on 2 or 3 Notre Dame mistakes.

Well, the score was the score, but let's put it this way. Notre Dame hasn't had a single turnover in its first two games. We both know this kind of stuff won't last (one of these weeks), so this indicates to me a close game.

Fresno State may not make it into the top 25 this year, but that Dwayne Wright is an awesome Junior running back

If the point spread is lower now, doesn't that just mean that too many people were taking Michigan +7?

                    • "Too many"? Is there such a thing?

Anyway, my boss, a UM Law alumn has a similar attitude to Guy: "It's going to be tough for the maize and blue."

                      Depressives. The lot of you.

                      • By the way, off topic, but the Yankees may end their affiliation with the Columbus Clippers. Sad day in Columbus, I'm sure, Guy.

But who knows, the Nationals could pick them up as their AAA farm team.

If Michigan covers +7, then yes, the bookies would think that's "too many." Their job is to make money, which partly involves paying out as little as possible, which is why spreads change. Also involves generating more bets, so they get more vig.

If U-M didn't underperform so much, maybe we wouldn't be so depressed.

I certainly hope they win, but they'll need to play a nearly perfect game. Given what I've seen the first two games, it would be an amazing turnaround.

                          • Am I missing something?

Why in God's name is College Gameday at USC, previewing the one Top-25 matchup guaranteed to be a blowout? Why aren't they at Auburn or Notre Dame?

                            • They're at the places where the ABC night game is being played.

It's silly. They won't ever be at South Bend because of this. They'll be at many fewer SEC towns too because CBS has the SEC feature game.

From the energy point it's ridiculous. The show is at 10-12, but there's a big gap to the game, which is at 8.

If you remember last year at South Bend versus USC, the energy at the show was crazy. Kickoff was in sight, hardcore tailgating was underway, the campus was going through all of its traditional stuff.

In LA this morning, the show is starting at 7. The campus is freaking comatose.

Michigan 34 - Notre Dame 7 right now. Looks like the Gameday guys know more about college football than you give them credit for...

And lord, does Notre Dame look bad. Talk about overrated.
