I wouldn't really expect a reply that makes since or is really consistent without seeming to justify either the rocket attacks and/or the presence of a hostile, well-armed proxy army for Syria/Iran on Israel's border who regularly makes raids across the border.
I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

Actually I'm sure Hezb could argue that there are no innocent civilians in Israel...

The main point though is that this is a terrorist organisation which is not restricted to 'conventional' means of warfare. Israel has nominally signed up to be a responsible part of the world community.

Besides the US nuked Nagasaki and Hiroshima - plenty of innocent civilians there I'm sure...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

I cannot justify the attacks of a terrorist organisation such as Hezb, especially now that Israel does not occupy any Lebanese territory as per resolution 1559.

Indeed, have I not just called for their disbandment on this very thread only a few posts earlier...?

One of these days you might actually discuss the topic and not the poster...

What have Nagasaki and Hiroshima got to do with this point? Nothing, nor has the nature of terrorism. The point is whether you agree with Hezb that there are no innocent Israelis, and AFAICS, you do.

Well let's give it a shot by asking a simple question. Why is it you feel that Israel isn't justified in attempting to weaken the military arm of the proxy in the failed state along thier border?

Duh. The interesting question is: do you agree with that argument? You seem to.

Actually it has. The wholesale slaughter of innocent civilians. I would say that is a thing of the past, but Israel seems to be meting out the same thing to the Lebanese, albeit at a lesser degree...

nor has the nature of terrorism.
This has everything to do with it. Terrorists aren't shackled with trying to avoid civilian casualties - that is usually their main target. So try not to be so naive as to expect them to play by the 'rules' of engagement - but at the same time when a sovereign state starts employing similar tactics, is it also not guilty of terrorism?

The point is whether you agree with Hezb that there are no innocent Israelis, and AFAICS, you do.
Then you are being far too simplistic young padawan...

It does not matter whether I believe that, it matters whether hezb believes that.

                    I don't!

You just evidently don't read a word I write, because apparently you're more interested in attacking me than actually contributing to the discussion at hand...

In the real world, yes. In the context of this discussion, however, what you think is actually more important (heh, the only time that will be true!). We aren't debating with any members of Hezbollah here.

If you agree that Hezbollah is wrong in firing rockets at Israeli civilians... if you agree that Israel has a right to exist and a right to self-defense... IF,

Then you must concede that it's not as simple as the "brutish Israeli dogs" slaughtering innocent Lebanese (just as it's not pure, innocent Israelis bravely fighting teh evil terrorists).

                        -Arrian

edit: and Sloww has a point - vis-a-vis the real world situation, what Israel believes is also clearly important. If Israel believes it can coexist peacefully with Hezbollah, they've no reason to bomb the crap out of Lebanon.

Too busy calling people simplistic morons and whining to get around to an actual opinion on what should happen.
Real big on what shouldn't happen, a little lacking on what should happen.
