Nor are there ever technobabble-based deus ex machina.
    Huge second season spoiler:

    Spoiler:
I thought the way Roslin's cancer was cured was pretty technobabblish and pretty deux ex -ish. It didn't really irk me, but I did raise an eyebrow.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

BSG is better than B5, and I thought I would never say that about any sci-fi TV series. I tried getting into Enterprise and Stargate and did not last a season on either one.

Even though it is set in a technologically advanced society, it feels like the civs involved have an ancient aura about them (and not in a fakey, pseudo sense either). This is probably the main reason I like it.

When you watch it, dwell on it's take on religion in emerging cultures...

And I fully agree - the soundtrack is kicka**. Get both of them!

I also do like that they take you into the 'other' (ie, the enemy's) point of view. The Cylon episode last season was wonderful .

          The one with "Caprica" Six?
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

There were a lot with her in it . I'm talking about the episode that introduced Lucy Lawless.

That wasn't the one that was Cylon POV heavy, meanwhile they had only two episodes last season with "Caprica" Six(The Six who got the codes out of Baltar in the Mini series).

The first one with Caprica Six(Which also had the Boomer who shot Adama in it) as great. The second episode was the season finale.

Um... then the one where she played a main role in .

I tried to get into it too several times, but IMO SG is just childish. BSG is light years above it.

SG-1 was amusing for several years, but primarily as a star vehicle. It rode on the personalities of its principals. Now that RD Anderson is essentially gone, there's really not much point to watching it IMHO.

Kass. Without spoiling it for others I had the same concerns as you and maybe it bothers me a little more but despite that I do like the character. Usually that type of character would have put me off but I think the character brings so much to the show that in the end I was able to look past it far easier than if it had been done on most other shows.

                            Sprayber, you are correct,

                            Spoiler:
I happily tolerate a deux ex machina if it means keeping Roslin.

I have to agree, but it wasn't THAT bad, and it was certainly an exception and not the rule. After all, they couldn't really let

                              Spoiler:
Roslin die, that would hurt the show too much.

...it was their decision to give her cancer in the first place. They knew it had to lead somewhere.
