And you wonder why nobody has a trace of respect for US football
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

It's mainly because they are idiots.

Fact remains, you whine about the physical play of the US in the WC match, but you haven't seen physical play. Come to CONCACAF and see what physical soccer is. Try playing in Panama or T&T or Guatemala.

We watch European soccer and European rugby, that are sports that are not necessarily requiring players ending up on a wheelchair

              Apparently not Italians.

I'm sure the Italian team in CONCACAF would be flopping and rolling and wonder why the referee was telling them to get up off their asses and stop faking.

Btw, as for respect. Why don't you ask other Europeans whether they feel respect or revulsion for the Italian tradition of diving? Just because the Italians have pansied up the Serie A and their national team doesn't mean the rest of the world has. And take nye's advice and check out the EPL.

Italians playing in the CONCACAF wouldn't be fair - it's supposed to be for those teams with commercial value to be able to qualify for the World Cup by beating Panama and Guatemala.

Trying to make up for lack of actual football skill through unnecessary roughness is not something to be proud of. It's not supposed to be a hockey match on grass And people wonder why I cheer for whoever's playing against the Americans.

Football is not ballet. It is a physical game. While it is said that the English invented football, but the Brazilians perfected it, the English did indeed invent the game and they play a pretty rough and tumble version of it comparitively. The US plays no more physical than a number of EPL sides.

The US were playing a physical game?

                        They should face the Aussies.

                            Apparently, the Italians think so.

I would wish our team to be able to handle well a physical game, at a minimum.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I tried the same tack in the other thread.

                              Locutus was appalled.
