If I have a yellow card in my book already in this game, I don't pull shirt. And if I do, I deserve the consequences. It was 1) unnecessary and 2) with full intent. That means yellow, by all means.

This time shirt pulling has become 'persona non grata'. So what happens? If anyone feels a slight tug they fall to the ground and it's a yellow (or a red) for the shirt puller. Thats crap IMO, it just promotes diving.
For which, interestingly, quite a number of yellows have been given as well, so your point is moot.

    • They yellow-redded one of those damn Poles

      • Have they released you out of police custody already? So soon?

        • I watched one arrestation from S-Bahn. Some German fans irritated a Pole, he started kicking at them , then he was overwhelmed by 4 or 5 police. It was ludicrous

            Unfair fights. Damn Bulls.

They should wear Pickelhauben, though. This way they'd face much more respect.

Yes its easy to see the mistakes and ignore everything else, but I still stand by my previous remark.

One good thing for example is that they have consistently handed out yellow cards for players trying to delay opponent free kicks and throw ins, by removing the ball och standing in the way, also a few cards for rushing way before the signal at dangerous free kicks. Boruc should have gotten carded earlier tonight for taking to much time, the rules say 6 seconds are allowed for the keeper to hold the ball. Imagine if that was really enforced...
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

                  You're mixing two incidents:

The shirt pulling travesty was the spain- ukraine match where the player ran through the shorts pulling, ran 5 more m, had a shot on goal, then fell down with arm flailing and other requisite theatrics.

Result- red card. PK and goal, end of match

Sobelowski stupidly contacted the German player (who promptly fell down as if he had been poleaxed)

Result- yellow/red card. Poland down to 10 men, loss of match

For which, interestingly, quite a number of yellows have been given as well, so your point is moot.
Except for yesterday and the USA match monday I've seen every minute but I havent seen a booking for diving. Maybe I'm mistaken but nothing is 'moot'.

I'm not opposed to enforcing rules but I am opposed to referees deciding matches.

                    • Noones been booked for diving yet but theres been one for a player waving an imaginary card at the ref, trying to get another player booked.

It was funny to watch, "Are you going to give him a card for that ref?", "No, but you can have one!!"

Yeah, that was a Serbian player against Holland, and it was the second time he did it, so he deserved the booking. With a bit of luck other players will have noticed and not do it themselves.

The worst dive I've seen was an Argentinian against the Ivorians. Going down a bit easily from a little tug or nudge is one thing, after all, a foul has been comitted, but taking a sniper bullet when the opponent never touched you is much more serious.

                            • I watched today's highlights when I got home tonight, and thought the penalty for Spain and red card for the Ukrainian was a real shocker of a decision. Maybe the Spanish are entitled to some luck as I think they lost out in Korea, but they probably didn't need it the way they played.

It looks like Spain join Argentina, Italy and the Czechs as the hot teams, with possibly Holland and the Ivorians leading the next tier.

As for Germany - I only saw the highlights but it seemed they left it very late to do the job they could have finished several times over earlier in the game. That double-hit-the-bar was amazing.

You'd get a warning if you look at the ref the wrong way.
