Seriously, I don't really give a ****, since this is so far away from here that it's probably the farthest away a person can be on this planet, but the principle of the matter should be anyone who considers themselves mexican and not american shouldn't be in america. It's not as if america was this restrictive country that demanded social uniformity - this is a simple demand that their allegiances wouldn't be with the people across the border, but with their new homeland. That's what the other immigrants did.

Btw, this is unlike, say, Irish or jewish immigrants: ireland and Israel don't have a shared geography with the united states. However, I also think that the allegiance of jews around the world is and should be first and foremost to the places they live in.

On first glance maybe, but on second glance you usually see the Mexican and American flags put together.

Unless this is a march for friendship between the two countries, or the Mexican president is in town, it's still crazy.

You see, the american flags and mexican flags aren't equal in standing on the US - the former is the flag of their country, or at least should be, if they want to live in the US, the second is a flag of another country.

We need to:

1. Allow more immigration from Latin America. The US is a country of immigrants. The people afraid of the Mexican hoardes are the same kind of people who were afraid that southern and eastern European immigrants would contaminate thier WASP blood, IMO.

2. Allow the rest that want to work in the US to stay on a guest worker program that gives them the same rights all other workers have.

3. Crack down harshly on businesses that use illegals.

all three are a long shot, though. Business interests don't want a guest worker program or increased legal immigration levels. They want illegals because thier illegal status means they can't compain to the athorities, perfect slave labor. If those people were here legally on a guest worker program thatgave them all the rights as other workers. The reason jobs like veggie picking is dominated by illegal immigrants is not because citizens don't want to work those jobs, it's because the farm owners prefer the illegals because they won't complain and can be paid diddly squat.

is well taken. Mexican flag waving was used to show National-origin pride in anti-Prop-186 rallies (Prop 186 ended affirmative action in California govt), and there was a huge backlash. I was very glad to see American flags sprinkled into yesterdays rally...some folk had a two-tiered flag, Mexican on the bottom, American on the top.

Actually not really:


1) They do jobs inner city blacks no longer do


2) In rural America they are the farm workers in the fields
