  • Massive demonstration right outside my window!

I snuck into work today to get caught up. But not with all this noise.

Protestors in white T-Shirts are filling Hill St. They're pouring in off First. And I'm at First and Hill. Much shouting. A few bullhorns. An occasational police siren. And constant helicopters roaring overhead.

...Oh great. Now car horns join in from the massive jam that is building.

It must be one of the anti-HR 4437 protests. Stupid bill, turning into a felony--not only being an illegal alien-- but even unwittingly helping one.

...Anyways, I'm heading home to work. I gotta get this done before I join in tomorrow's protests.

protests just aren't what they used to be. I think it would have been cool to be alive and see the protests in the 60's. Now all we get are these lame ass immigration protests. Boring.

    I want carnage dammit!

not really. no one here gets united over much. We are a very disjointed community.

There were some minor anti-war protests 3 years ago. nothing major.

Actually the bigggest protest was during the 70's. It was either anti or pro abortion. I can't remember. But since the 70's no one really cares about anything other than money.

500,000 Immigrants March the Streets of LA

There's been alot of anti-immigrant laws passed recently in Southern California. The Costa Mesa police, for example, are now required to ask for proof of citizenship.

This is ridiculous. Let the immigrants work, they're doing jobs the rest of us don't want to do anyway.

There was also a big student walkout on Friday.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- They surprised the police, and maybe themselves, their T-shirts turning block after block of downtown Los Angeles streets white in a demonstration so massive that few causes in recent U.S. history have matched it.

Police said more than 500,000 people marched Saturday to protest a proposed federal crackdown on illegal immigration.

Wearing white as a sign of peace, and waving flags from the U.S., Mexico, Guatemala and other countries, they came to show that illegal immigrants already are part of the American fabric, and want the chance to be legal, law-abiding citizens.

OMG checking illegal immigrants! TEH POLICE STATE!
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Yep, it's pretty much a "let me see your papers" thing straight out of a movie.

It's a dumb law and the police don't like it either, it means that immigrants are reluctant to come forward with information for fear of being turned in to La Migra (immigration).

I think the police are going to look the other way at the law.

I'm tired of this let's pick on the weak attitide of this place.

Those people are *******s and idiots.

WAVING ****ING MEXICAN FLAGS isn't a great idea to gather support for immigration, and shows where their allegiances are in that context....
