Nah. What makes it worse in their case is that they did it against civilized whites instead of dark savages.

Dunno about Austria, but the "swastika is banned" thing is - at least in this absolute form - a bit misleading for Krautland. There is a ban for political purposes, but there are lots of exceptions which allow the use in historic movies, historiy books or in museums.

I think it was also allowed in games (PG series for example), so I really wondered about HOI coming without them.

        • That is what I was wondering about. I know Paradox said that they'd get in trouble in Sweden (and they said in Germany, Austria, etc) for showing the swastika in HOI. Even in historical context. I dunno how right they were, but I'm sure their lawyers told them what to do.

OK, so what about the guilt of the people who actually participated and are still living today? No one (AFAIK) is alive who suffered through or helped the Trail of Tears. The same cannot be said of the Holocaust. You can argue that they shouldn't be held perpetually guilty, but maybe not yet, since there are those who are alive that actively supported it, and aren't they guilty by your standards?

            • I thought they simply were misinformed regarding Germany, but I don't really know what drove their decision. And, of course, I've no idea how it is in Sweden, but I always thought in Scandinavia they don't care about that....

              It's a mystery to me

                • Mao,

I said "after a while" and specified that people who weren't even born yet shouldn't feel guilty.

That kinda implies that those who were alive, especially those who took part in it, should feel guilty, don't you think? I thought that went w/o saying.

This is a screenshot of the usermade scn for PG II (or the PG conversion for PeG), but it has also modded gfx. Dunno if the flags are too. So yeah, maybe I'm wrong

But I always thought one of the games had them

This is even more true in Austria. We less have such a general Swastika-ban than in Germany. It's only forbidden to use it for propaganda purposes IIRC, so computer games rarely have a problem with that.

In Sweden? We've got no law against swastikas per se, and various other computer games have been sold here complete with swastikas on WWII German soldiers and the like.

                            • Well then why the Hell did Paradox decline to put swastikas in HOI when apparently everyone seems to think their country doesn't ban swastikas.
