        • What's happening?

Danes are starting to b*tch that there's absolutely no other news than the cartoon stuff, people's opinion on it, other people's opinion on those people's opinion on it, and nobody talks about the dreadful weather anymore.

          • Now here's an interesting twist (in Finland), after the peaceful protest, or more like a gathering with talking took place in Helsinki, now a small group of people from Iraq and Iran held a new protest in Helsinki, with signs like 'I can draw what I want' etc... supporting our freedom of speech.

They had a message in which they saw wrong view of the religion being presented as the 'right' one.

All in all, we seem to not have a problem other than positive ones, local muslim community is in some kind of dialogue, and it's done with debates. I will buy another kebab today and drink that Carlsberg I promised.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Pakistan strike urged over Muhammad cartoons

Pakistan's opposition Islamist parties have called for a nationwide strike next month to protest against the publication of cartoons deemed offensive to Muslims.

The Muttahida Majlis-e Amal (MMA) alliance, a six-party coalition of religious groups, is organizing the walkout for March 3 "to condemn the blasphemous act" of publishing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

MMA leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed announced the plan after a national convention of political and religious parties.

Pakistan's ruling Muslim League party (PML) said it would support the strike "if it is disciplined, peaceful and focused."

The cartoons, published in September in Denmark and reprinted in other European papers in recent weeks, have set off protests and boycotts of Danish products in several countries.

Rallies condemning the cartoons have been held almost daily in Pakistan since the controversy became more widespread last month, but the protests have remained peaceful.

Islamic tradition bars any depiction of the prophet. Under Pakistani laws, insulting the Prophet or Islam's holy book, the Qur'an, can be punished with death.

                  • It's pretty obvious this has nothing to do with the cartoons, everyone is just jumping the gun and checking then their list if they have some agendas and things left in 'to do'-list and taking advantage, that plus thugs running around like it's christmas, you know, this is what you get. If oyu ask me, they can strike themselves to oblivion.

I can guarantee you that the strike is going to hurt Pakistan a lot more than it'll hurt Denmark...

                          • Yeah, except the ruling party said it would support the strike if it was peaceful.

So now you've got everybody in Pakistan working themselves into a masturbatory lather striking away potentially productive workdays and hurting nobody but themselves.

                            Where's the ****ing point?

                            • so wait? Everybody supports the strike? So what's the point, like you said KH, what's teh point now? Why are they striking and hurting themselves?

Makes NO sense anymore, I thought this be a powerplay from opposition parties.. then again it still might be, the the ruling party is playing along, kind of pre-empting this saying.. ok.. go ahead, we support you.

So if they start striking, when is it going to end, and who will negotiate, if they are a united front against working for their own good?
