Why would somebody with a non-small penis feel inferior?
Toronto sucks, but sucks less than Detroit but more than New York. It is midway on the suckage scale, which ranges from Calgary on the rule side and Edmonton on the suck side.

EnCana just hired Norman Foster to build their new skyscraper in downtown Calgary. Gonna be the largest building in Western Canada supposedly.

I like Toronto. But I wouldn't want to live there. Great entertainment scene there. I saw John Williams and Julian Bream there. Great concerts. I live in another little cultural hotspot in Ontario, but when i want I can just zip down 401 to see stuff and then zip back to my more rural bliss.
NPR had a bunch of people debate this last night. The concensus reached at the end of the show was that the US dollar was in for a long slide (like 3-4 years worth of sliding) because of the budget deficit, trade deficit, and that the Fed has supposedly reached a point where they're almost done tightening for this cycle.

You've got to ignore Asher on any Canadian topics that don't feature Calgary/Alberta/The Flames.
Toronto is a nice city - and that's a huge compliment coming from a transplanted Vancouverite. More diversity, more Arts, more $$$, more of many things. I live in the city proper of course (I detest all suburbs), so YMMV.
The wife and I are going out to see Movin' Out on Friday - can't do that in Vancouver.

To answer your question, Toronto is not at all like a typical midwestern American town. It's heavily multicultural, and is the focus for economic and financial life in Canada. It's not really New York, but neither is it Detroit or Chicago.
Well, it is like a midwestern town in some respects.
Like the midwest, its flat, boring and ugly. Its also a (relatively) pretty new city as well, just like most of those in the midwest.
I'd say it has more in common with Chicago than New York. New York is far too massive to be a fair comparison. But it is similar to New York in that its the focal point for the country's cultural and financial life.
