I've given up on dealing with your theological ignorance. Please do yourself a favor and go to the theological library at Princeton Theological Seminary, and pick up a few books on fulfilled Old Testament prophecy. Educate yourself for the sake of your own salvation.

the Noah story is a rip-off from a Sumerian legend that originated from a rapid rise in the level of the Black Sea when water from the Mediterranean burst though the Bosphorus 7000 years ago.

The Flood "myth" is worldwide and most likely a result of the flooding accompanying the end of the last ice advance.

The Cain and Able story is a mythologization of ther comflict between early farmers and hunter-gatherers.

Who was the hunterer/gatherer? Cain was the farmer and Abel the shepherd. If that theory was right, God would have preferred the farmer's food to symbolise the rise of agriculture and decline of shepherding.

The banishment from Eden is a mythologization the desertification of the the Sahara and Arabia 6000 years ago that pushed semetic-speaking peoples into the fertile cresent, flaming sword = expanding deserts.

The Sumerians didn't come from the Sahara nor were they semitic.

In fact, the Old Testament, which He claims to have written as God, endorses private property.

Aye talking about the bible, when was it actually written? How was it written? And when did it first appear? Historically, using sources outside of the bible itself please.

Secondly, a question I can't get round is why? Why did god create it all?

there is much scholarship about it...

there is some thought that the OT was first written in Hezakiahs time..

as far as outside sources, we have OT fragments from the BCs, and references to the jewish religion.. but I don't think that other cultures gave much thought and scholarship to the Jewish religion...

the claim, by less cynical people, is that Moses wrote most of the first part (first 5 books), and then others wrote later parts..

and that 1&2 Samuel, 1&2 Kings, 1&2 Cronicals are just that, histories...

note that the later books of the OT are considered apocraphal by Jews

the first scraps of the NT date to ~100 AD.. and that is when the more sceptical think it was written.. although most theologians (who are usually sceptical) do think that there was a guy named Paul arround, who wrote a lot and basically started the religion (~50 AD)

I admit to not knowing of references to Paul by outside sources

Heres the thing with Christianity, its either real or the greatest conspiracy theory ever. Or what? What connects the various writers together if not God?

sceptics claim that each new set of writers shifted the religion to better fit the current political situation...

but then at some point, that stopped happening...

but yeah, most beleivers (Even some sceptics) think that God is the uniting aspect of the Bible.. and gives it its coherence (I know that Christians think this, I Think that Jews think this about the OT also.. but not sure (see LotM))

strangely, it seems that for a thousand years 'some people' have found Jesus' supposedly miraculous fulfillment of OT prophecy to be neither accurate nor obvious....


Oh well guess it's just one of those things we need 'the Spirit' to open our eyes and shut down our brains to understand.

Oh, and going back to where we left off last year...you said I secretly knew god existed. I swore I didn't.
