    • Another big week for the Wingnuts. Looks like I'm gonna be vaulting into third place.

      • Damnit, I needed 2 goals and I got 2 more assists.

24 assists and 19 PPP is overkill.

Just thought I'd share this recent mailbag quote from TSN.ca:

Q: Hey Scott, I was just wondering who you think has the most legitimate chance to win the Stanley Cup from the tough Northwestern Division? It seems to me that regardless of which team goes furthest of the Flames, Canucks, Oilers, or Avalanche that team will be so worn down that the Stanley Cup might not be a realistic end?

A: Undoubtedly the team that wins the Northwest Division will have earned it because there isn't an easy matchup to be had there. Because of strong and proven goaltending, the Flames would figure to be the best bet in the playoffs. - SC

              • Also, on west vs east:
Q: Hey Scott, I am a long time Oilers fan and firmly believe that the Western Conference is much tougher to play in than the Eastern. What I was wondering is this: do the statistics bear me out? What are the winning percentages in games where western teams play eastern teams? Which conference has the better record against the other? For that matter, which division has the best record against non-divisional opponents? Thanks, Todd, Jasper, AB

A: Todd, to this point, the West is 44-30-10 against the Eastern Conference. The teams doing the best against non-conference opposition? San Jose is 6-0-0, Vancouver is 4-0-0 and Calgary is 4-0-1. - SC

And? The East is 40-33-11 against the West

Big deal. Therefore, over 84 interconference games played, the West has gathered 98 points and the East has gathered 91

                  Wow. What a huge spread.

                  • East vs. West

I really hate saying this, but the Sens have Hasek with the best GAA and Sav %. And the Sens have the highest team scoring in the league.

3rd to 7th is still incredibly close. It's not good news for Asher and I that the other top five teams face sub .500 teams this week while we face each other.

And the Senators lost how many games versus the west?

                        Including the Flames?

The Senators have good stats because the eastern conference sucks.

Like Detroit has good stats 'cause the central division sucks.

                          • Despite the fact that the Flames have been playing at the same calibre for 2 months now, we finally made it near the top of TSN.ca's laughable power rankings: #3, behind Ottawa (#1) and the Rangers (#2). Vancouver is #4, Edmonton #15, Leafs #17, Montreal #22.
