      BUT

A lot of those questions had no correct answer. For instance an easy class isn't called any of those things... so I had to just make answers up for about 4 questions.

Standard American English is more a product of the midwest than California, and isn't based on Hollywood's media reach. Rather California is home to zillions of people who originated in other parts of the U.S. (in particular people from the south and midwest) and thus whatever tendencies it may have been developing have constantly been drowned by immigration. Standard dialect was simply an easier mean to reach, was easy to hear via radio and television and didn't suffer from any of the social stigma that the southern dialects did.

Hollywood changed the accents it used / preferred over time. Notice how in the 1930s & 1940s movie actors tended to affect a more Yankee accent (verging almost on something of an British accent). This coincided with New York's reign as the nation's cultural capitol, and in particular its predominance for stage actors. As radio and then television became more important the accents of the midwest came to predominate. By the time television started to move network production facilities from New York to California in the 1960s the fix was already in, with network hosts and newscasters overwhelmingly using the standard dialect, even when it wasn't their native dialect.
