Some of the stuff still wasn't applicable. I wouldn't call an easy class any of those things and I've never used the term sneakers, but the only thing I've ever called "tennis shoes" are literally the shoes I'd play tennis in (I used to play competitive tennis, and had special shoes dedicated solely to this activity). Otherwise, I'd call athletic footwear "running shoes".

              Yeah! They're called Trainers...

              Also:

              5. You call sweetened, carbonated beverages: Soft Drinks

              10. What do you call an easy class?: A doddle, walk in the park etc...

              12. What do you call something that is diagonal from you?: 'Kitty corner', 'Catty corner'!!? What is this cutesy drivel?

              13. What is the four wheeled contraption you push around your groceries in?: Shopping trolley.

And as for pronunciations one of my pet hates is the way many of you pronounce 'route' with an 'out'...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Yeah, see, thats why the survey is called "What Kind of American English Do you Speak?" and not something else.

And you make the assumption that its even remotely adequate just dealing with American English which, as I've mentioned, it isn't.

Edit: And in New England I called it a shopping trolley as well.

                      Pyjamas? Ridiculous!

I find it funny that the language we speak in California has basically become accepted as standard American English. I suppose this has something to do with Hollywood and so much of the mass media being based in California so that our way of saying things just becomes the accepted way after a while.
