    The Habs are at least a respectable hockey club.

    The Leafs are perennial losers. The only time they could win the cup was when they were fighting against only 5 other teams.

      Whenever anybody tells me they're a Leafs fan I put my hand on their shoulder, look them straight in the eye, and say: "I'm so sorry"

                  The best part of living in Toronto for 16 months is I have the emails and MSNs of a lot of Leafs fans now. It's great material.

                    The thing Calgarians can't figure out is that their team is still boring, pathetic and a hollow shell compared to the greatness of the Leafs. Even after years of hard times, the Leafs still have an allure that the Flames will never have.

                    Odds are that Calgary will be another flash in the pan, just like Carolina, Anaheim and Florida.

                    And yes, Leafs fans will stick by their team through thick and thin, unlike in Calgary where the team has struggled to keep its fans before it made the last cup run.

                      during the Flames Cup run, me and one of my teachers were talking about it. I told him that now I'm a Flames fan, he ask why after only season. I said "Well, I was a Leafs fan before". He congratulated me if as I completed some 12 steps program.

                        What the Leafs really do best, and it's on fine display so far in the pre-season, is overpay brittle has-beens and complain about the officiating.

                        Let's see what we've got so far:

                        - Most teams seem to be adjusting to the new rules - the Leafs are taking as many stupid penalties now as they did in the first preseason game.

                        - Eric Lindros doesn't have a point in the preseason, and is already hurt.

                        - Jason Allison has been frustrated with team doctors telling him to take it easy on his injury, and then promptly pulled himself from the last exhibition game after a morning skate.

                        - Jeff O'Neill's hurt too

                        - Nik Antropov missed a wide open, empty net goal (not from centre ice, mind you, but from a couple of feet away) a couple of games back, and has since been booed loudly by Toronto fans when he plays.

                        - Steve Thomas has a strong chance of actually making the team, and is already whining about not being able to obstruct.
