BTW the player has to be in real-life IR to be eligible for your IR

I think it's instantaneous. But then when your player comes out of IR in real life you have to place him back on the roster (or dump his ass to the waiver pool) within 72 hours (? not sure on that number)12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

In other words, having a player get injured doesn't hurt you except tha you're going to have to temporarily replace a good player with a crappy one.

Looking at the shift chart from NHL.com and comparing the depth chart from yahoo.com...
Columbus did not have any players from their top 2 lines in the game... and only 2 of their top 6 defensemen were in the game.
Basically, they started an AHL lineup.
And Marc Denis had a horrible game. 6 goals on 26 shots
