  • I almost took Berard over Stuart. It was the +/- that tipped it in Stuart's favor.

      • I think we actually have 15 rounds - remember the IR spot.

Sorry... we don't PICK the IR spot. It's just a spot to keep an IR player without having to dump him to the waiver wire when picking up a replacement.

Unless you are just joking .

        • Yeah.

BTW the player has to be in real-life IR to be eligible for your IR

So if you're managed to pick a player who'se already in real-life IR then yes, you can have a "15th round" all to yourself...

Actually, I really didn't know that - this is my first Yahoo pool for any sport.

So how does it work then - if you put someone on the IR, you can pick another player? Is there any minimum length of time the player has to be on the IR before you can pick up a replacement?

            • I think it's instantaneous. But then when your player comes out of IR in real life you have to place him back on the roster (or dump his ass to the waiver pool) within 72 hours (? not sure on that number)

Damn. I missed that I was up when I checked earlier.

I'm at work right now and will be able to make a pick early evening my time (~8pm).

                • In other words, having a player get injured doesn't hurt you except tha you're going to have to temporarily replace a good player with a crappy one.

On the other hand, it also can't be used to indefinitely store a 15th player that somebody else wants (due to real-life IR requirement)

                  • Yep, its one place holder for injured player. You don't have to waive him to get some production. Put him on IR, then you can get someone off waivers without having to drop anyone else... until the guy gets better, of course.

well, I think Columbus is a bit improved... he'll be on a line with Foote... and he'll be on the ice with Rick Nash a lot I bet.

Imran: either one... it depends who you want to give up... however, I'm going probably draft a winger with one of my next picks, so that will limit what I would want in return for one of my defensemen. Who could you part with... Selanne? for maybe, Kubina?

Columbus is improved? The team that lost 9-0 to Detroit last night?

Oh crap! Looks like I need another LW (can I move a RW over?)

No Rick Nash, no Adam Foote, no Bryan Berard, and half the team looks like it will be sent down to minors or back to juniors.

                            Plus, this is preseason Asher.

                            • 9-0 is spectacularly bad, even without 3 of the best players...

                              • Jan Hrdina, Todd Marchant, Geoff Sanderson, Dan Klesla, David Vyborny, Nikolai Zherdev... were also out

Looking at the shift chart from NHL.com and comparing the depth chart from yahoo.com...

Columbus did not have any players from their top 2 lines in the game... and only 2 of their top 6 defensemen were in the game.

Basically, they started an AHL lineup.

And Marc Denis had a horrible game. 6 goals on 26 shots

It's not surprising they lost 9-0.
