I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

why so high with Miami. The lost there only tough game of the year. Every other game has been a cake walk.
It was obvious in the game with FSU that they were still trying to figure out their offense with the young players. They've improved markedly.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Once again, I feel like any of a number of teams could occupy the last three slots (Texas Tech, Miami, Wisconsin, Boston College, Oregon, Florida, Florida State...), and my top three are still neck and neck."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Frankly, I consider the top 3: USC, Texas, and Virginia Tech to be soo close they are almost interchangable in those spots. It depends on what day it is as to who I'd put in #1.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

When do the BCS rankings come out? The AP poll?I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. Here's the AP poll. ND is still #9...
USC remains on top
UNDATED (AP) _ Southern California remains on top of the weekly Associated Press top-25 college football poll. The Trojans maintained their lead with that thrilling, 34-to-31 win over Notre Dame. The victory was their 28th straight.
U-S-C received 57 first-place votes while second-ranked Texas was given the remaining eight. The third-ranked school is Virginia Tech, with Georgia fourth and Alabama fifth.
The second five this week consists of Miami, L-S-U, U-C-L-A, Notre Dame and Texas Tech.
Positions eleven through 20 are held by Florida State, Penn State, Boston College, Ohio State, Oregon, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
The bottom-five are T-C-U, Michigan State, Virginia, Fresno State and California.

I really dislike the coaches poll. Coaches have a conflict of interest in that they may be incentivized to vote for the teams within their own league.
I much prefer the conflict of interest inherent in the AP poll -- that journalists may be incentivized to vote based upon creating compelling matchups.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. Well you asked for the BCS. BCS doesn't come out until tomorrow... but they take the average of the Coaches and AP poll (IIRC), which is 10.5 for Notre Dame and then apply the computers.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I understand that you answered the question that was asked, and weren't necessarily vouching for the coaches poll. I was merely pointing out that I don't like the coaches poll.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. Though one thing I think is wierd in both polls is that I think West Virginia should be ranked higher. Sure, they were 26th (1st of those left out) before this week, but they only lost to VTech and have shown a very good defense. Maybe I am overrating them, but I think they'll be a good test for whoever they face off against in the BCS boll (they'll win the Big East now).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.
