    Nah - too dangerous!

Actually two return journeys - once coming and going and once going to see the cute lil' gators in the Bayou...

Still apart from the industrial canal to the east, none of these canals actually sector off the main part of the city as they only go part way into the city - so you're wrong despite having driven over several of them...

    • IMO, Bush has dropped the ball on this one. I want to see some leadership from him either today or tomorrow not just dopey comments about citizenship and community.

I think the trade off sucked don't you? It's not like Lott is going to be affected by it that much. But I guess if it makes some liberal feel good that Lott's home was destroyed at that price, who am I to argue.

At least to me, Bush sounds like a used car salesman next to the likes of them.

*edited in* To keep it on topic, i read the Saints might play the whole year on the road or at an alternate location, perhaps leading to them moving to Los Angeles full time. What a sad twist that would be. I dont know the process behind a team moving in the NFL, but if I were another owner, and it were put to a vote, i'd vote the Saints stay in NO for sentimental reasons atleast.

              Bush dropped the ball...

When invading Iraq has cost so much money that requests to improve levees last year were refused

When the 'peace' of Iraq has proved such a drain on manpower that the Louisiana National Guard is over there and not where they should be - guarding their patch of the nation.

Katrina and the Louisana National Guard

Bush is at least in some way accountable both for the destruction of New Orleans and hindering the recovery...

I'm not giving you any agruements on that. I'm just more concerned about what will actually happen than what he says. I find more inspiration from the folks down here in Arkansas(and many around the South) who are opening up their homes and wallets and sending truckloads of water down there everyday than in what someone regardless of party says in DC. The Feds are going to have to do something because ordinary people can only give so much.

                        • Oh yeah, it was a children's hospital. They were trying to move neonatal care patients. Some guy on top of the building across the street starting taking shots at the NG vehicle as it was being loaded.

Some helicopter flights to bring more doctors into the city have been haulted due to security fears.

                          • The National Guard should be authorised to return live fire against whoever is shooting. If people are dying and starving and someone is preventing the help efforts with guns, that makes him a very dangerous criminal.

                            • As of this afternoon, the governor said that all NG troops and police (both local and the others coming in) have both arrest powers and the authorization to use 'whatever force necessary' to bring order to the city.

                              • Is the governor authorised to give such orders? Aren't the National Guard, in fact, military?
