Ih HS, I hated football because I didn't like any of the other guys on the team (stupid jocks). But I played anyway because I was good, and I thought that not playing was selfish (plus I knew that my family would be proud (note that they did NOT force me) ). I could (and did) help the team do good and win games. At the end, I am glad that I played because it is fun to look back at old tapes and such.

If your son is good (and by the description of him, he probably is), perhaps you could reason with him. (But by no means should you force him)

I told my son to do his best to fulfill his promise to his dad. I have this errie feeling he is going to try and flunk school to get out of football. and that is not a good thing since he was one of the few that got accepted to the digital campus where the are issued laptops and do their work on them. I hope I am wrong

oh and yesterday at my younger sons practice. This crazy lady jumped out of her chair grabbed her kid by the arm and screamed in his face for not pulling the other kids flag. Im sitting there saying wtf is this lunatic doing. The kid was no more then 4 years old. I didnt say a word to her but said out loud to the man next to me that gee i thought this was a kids pop warner not the nfl and supposed to be fun which garnered me a nice dirty look

Just let your kid do what he wants to do and stand by his decision. Football is meant to be enjoyed, so if your kid doesn't enjoy it, then it's a pretty pointless exercise. I can remember in 5th grade, I dreaded football practice because of the hitting and quit the team.

If in the future he wants to pick it back up, then support that too. I picked it back up in the 8th grade and enjoyed it a lot, especially the hitting. Go figure.

So why aren't you still married to this guy?

Just tell the coach and several of the players that your son doesn't want to play football and is only playing because his dad is making him. Your problem will be solved in no time.

Not bad. I'd say that's worth a try.

I dont think the telling the coaches is gonna work he already tried it with the trainers. He told them he just had surgery on his foot and doesnt think that the dr will let him play. This kid aint stupid . Well the surgery was back in april the trainers called the dr and the dr released him to play

In a way, it's not your deal. Your son is the one who needs to tell his dad to stuff it.

psst.. Mrs. Tubers, I hate to brake it to you, but you live in Texas. Forcing boys to play football is not only a right, gaurenteed by law, but it is also a commandment, ordained by god almighty!

Thou shalt not refuse to play football or be a cheerleader!
