  • Football's littered with teams that tried to buy titles and failed. Look at Lazio's history.

      • And some teams can do it, Blackburn, ManU etc.

Anyway, 1-0 home win against Arsenal is a much better result than a 1-0 home win against "Premiership Whipping Boys" Sunderland.

Weren't you saying a few posts back that form matters? What happened? Tossed out the window when your favorite team is being analyzed?

              • Don't flatter Mikes ramblings with the word "analyzed".

Form does matter, I just don't see that winning a home game we were expected to win is a bad thing....?

If you want to talk "form", we played *FAR* better the week before away to Boro and only came away with a point. Our points total is more than justified by our form, Chelseas isn't.

And beating Arsenal is a bad thing?

Chelsea also has to get all its new parts (SWP, Crespo, Essien) integrated into the lineup. They went through the same thing last season. Once everyone is comfortable, they'll show proper form.

The more I read your post the less it makes sense. I havn't contradicated myself anywhere.

Chelsea get an undeserved 3 pts
Mike says the points are all that matter
I disagree and say form is important
Mike says Chelseas win is "better" than Liverpools
I point out that you can't do anymore than win and get the 3 pts, no mention of "form"

Where have I contradicted myself over Liverpools form? Weve played two games dominated them both, drawn one and won the other?

Very poor Imran, and very naughty. Where have I said that beating Arsenal was a bad thing?

                      • Well you say form is important and then turn around and say, well you can't do anymore than win and get 3 points. It's a valid counter argument for your 'form matters' argument.

It follows from your strange idea that MikeH was saying that beating Sunderland was a bad thing. Basically MikeH can say the exact same thing to you when you criticize Chelsea's play.

                          • "it follows" that you are putting words in my mouth Imran. Stop it.

The Arsenal (and Wigan) game was a good result, but if I were a Chelsea fan I'd be (other than a noisy southern nonce) conerned about the manner of those victories. Mike isn't. The reason I'm happy about the Sunderland result is that we won AND played well.

                            • Yeah, but "you can't do anymore than win and get the 3 pts". Furthermore, Chelsea and Arsenal both had the same number of shots, but Chelsea had more on goal. They also had 51% of possession. Where is this horrid form I hear about?

And from Soccernet's article, at least, it seems that Liverpool put together an altogether disappointing performance. Even though they had all the shots and possession, seemingly Sunderland put on a defensive show when Liverpool should have put them away.

I'm not putting any words in your mouth really, just pointing out how you aren't making too much sense .

Well who am I do argue with double talk like that

I hope we have many more disappointing performances with all the shots and possession
