Well done though, but why didn't you have Cisse from the start?

(sorry, no accents on my laptop. )

    • I really don't know why Cisse wasn't playing from the start, a bigger puzzle was why Pongolle was the first striker brought on as a sub.

Players like Cisse give a team the ability to be on the defensive one moment and in the opponents penalty area the next. Even if they don't score, it still forces the other side to allow for the possibility.

Unless we get a good winger we may as well sell Nando and give Cisse and Owen a go for six months, if it doesn't work out then make the choice then. Theres no need now.

Not a bad return for four years though, 2 European Super Cups, a UEFA and a Champoins League! I won't go into the domestic honours..........

        • You forgot the FA Cup against Arsenal - or was that more than 4 years ago?

You don't need a link player with the midfielders that Liverpool have. Two centre-forwards would make much more sense. Why use Morienrtes when you've got either Gerrard, Alonso or Garcia making breaks forward all the time?

I agree, two fast strikers (Owen, Cisse) make more sense than the current setup.

I did'n't forget about the FA cup (or the Charity Shield), I just don't like to gloat!

            err.....or the two League Cups

                • The rumor is that Souness is offering Feyenoord 12 million pounds for Kuijt. It would be amazing if we could get two strikers this week... but that means that we most definetly won't.

                    I'm a traditionalist

It's all relative really, on current form you could make a case for the Premiership being 'Mickey Mouse' for Liverpool..we're just operating at a different level these days!

                    • Don't be ridiculous - we can barely afford one decent forward. I'd love it (memories anyone ) if Spurs bought Kuyt and we could get Defoe.

                      • Apparently the Spurs are hitting a snag with Feyenoord. They want more money. We are, somehow amazingly, willing to overpay for forwards at this juncture. Who took over the body of Fat Freddie anyway?

No, the domestic honours are not very impressive, but competing regularly in the UEFA cup is a not something to be over-proud of either.

I'd guess it's even apparent to a tight arse like Fat Fred that you need strikers.

Clubs like Spurs and Newcastle will be viewing the 3rd and 4th places as 'gettable' (or should be!), and buying as such.

I agree, we must improve our trophy haul.....

Our CL record is pretty good (once we manage to get in it!) over the last few years.

Yeah, it only took two relegation-like performances in a row (not like we were expected to do that great against Arsenal - so it doesn't count).
