It's seemed inevitable for years, and I couldn't help feeling a sense of something close to guilt when the US, Spain and Bali got hit while we didn't. It felt like we were getting away with something.

In some ways, it feels like we're more closely united now. Almost as if we've taken a bullet that might have hit some other place.

That doesn't stop me wishing it hadn't happened though.
In a strange way, the only terror in these attacks is the terror of whether or not it's going to happen. After it's happened, the terror is gone

      • I should add,

Except for the people directly involved in the attack.

700+ casualties is less than a 10000-1 chance of being involved, I think we need to get a sense of proportion here...

          • Still, that's a better chance than before the blasts, yes?

              • Hello.

I'm OK, as are all the people I work with. I've spent the last five hours walking home from the site of the bus bomb (my office is a stone's throw from Russel Square)

My thoughts? I think London got off pretty lightly compared to to what could have happened and has happened elsewheres. The fact that transport was completely f***ed is nothing more than an inconvenience that even the RMT hits us with every so often.

And PH is over in Wembley I believe, ferrying his co-workers home after they got stranded in Dartford.

Yeah AQ is nothing compared to the RMT...

Well you wanted a sense of proportion.

Yeah, would you rather a 10000-1 chance of being blown up up AQ - or a year of travel on the underground free from strikes by the RMT...

                            • I think you meant a year free from strikes, and an AQ attack, or a year with strikes, and free from an AQ attack.
