  • "The coalition" against Al-Queda is a very large number of nations, including Sweden that also has had troops in Afghanistan since early 2002 and on.

But so far only the nations in the "Iraqi Freedom" operation has been mentioned, more specifically Italy and Denmark, as far as I have seen.

        • According to a US official, authorities are most concerned about the possibility of a similar attack in Washington, New York, Miami, Chicago, and Boston.

Great...the commute's gonna be even slower today. Not to mention that, personally, I think it might be a negative were I to get blowded up.

          • My condolences to all the Brits, and kudos to Molly for keeping us posted as an eyewitness.

I'm just thankful of a death toll of only 33, it could have been much worse.

            • This only further shows us, that the terrorists don't only hate Americans. They hate the West. They hate what the west stands for, and we are all in their **** list.

Well, the full extent of the events weren't revealed at the time that post was made- but I really didn't need to read that.

That's the current death toll, casualty figures for the bus haven't been disclosed.

I don't think that will happen with England.

So I think this one is a battle won, but the war's not over.
First, i didnt notice the slighty sign of terror in Spain after 11M. It was even unnecesary to hide the images of deaths and such to people to avoid histery. But I noticed a lot of indignation towards Aznar saying it was ETA (he says so even today) when it was obvious for everybody it was AQ.

Second, to invade iraq was a victory for terrorism. I agree Spain going out of iraq was a defeat, a defeat for people as you of course. I congratulate spain for it. OTOH it was a victory for people, which opposed totally to iraq invasion since the first day and was ignored by Aznar.

Third, if you think that terrorists attacking succesfully London how y when they wish is a battle won then i dont know why am i losing my time with you.

Yeah, that's true not all the casulties have been confirmed, but thankfully the attack was not on the scale of 9/11.

Completely false. Results had been the same if the masacre had not been happened, as surveys said. Goberment lose because it was acting completely against the people will, and not only about Iraq. This is why goberments lose elections. The coward argument was first used by the angry politicians who lose those elections. Because of this, Mr. Aznar is probably the most hated politician here, and his party is losing every single election since then. People could not be frightened for so long.

Do you realy think that could be so many coward persons in a nation in order to change a election because of this? I didn't know anyone. We have been suffering terrorist attacks for a long time. I didn't saw this cowardy these days. In fact I saw millions of people getting out their homes and walking through the streets, showing their pain and solidarity with the victims. The english people will do the same, I hope

You seem to forget that the spanish people were against the war before the bombings.
Besides, as Thorgal pointed out already, Aznar was a total jerk and belied the people.

                              • I would expect political bickering to stop when something like this happens.

This is a terrible thing to wake up to. It is a relief to hear that the British Apolytoners appear to have come out unharmed; I only hope their friends, family and acquaintances were able to do so as well.

I am confident that our friends and allies across the pond will not "fail or falter...weaken or tire", but come out of this on top.
