I'm gonna wait until someone is going to go cold turkey. I'll shoot for the 4th or sooner. I'm going to cut down today though. I'm going to try for 5 or less cigs.

I was addicted to marijuana. I've smoked more pot than you can imagine. I became especially addicted to marijuana once after quiting nicotine. Marijuana is much stronger than it was in the old days. It's a powerfull addictive drug.

I can say from personal experience that Marijuana isn't addictive.

But that's just me... it is for some people.

edit: I was smoking natural and organically cultivated weed grown by trusted friends (luxury of growing up in the country)... I haven't tried the kinds of skunk and spiked buds that are consumed in urban centres... so I can't comment on their nature. There are so many different types of weed and so much crap that it's blended with that there is no single effect caused by it.

I can't say I've ever been addicted. Addicted would mean that if I had 50 bucks left in my account, I'd spend it on the reefer.

I have smoked my fair share (and then some), however.

I know plenty of people who have spent money on marijuana that they should have spent on something else. I always had plenty of money for it, although I wish I had that money back. It would add up to quit a nice "stash."

Maybe pot is only psychologically addictive, not physically addictive like alcohol or cocaine, but it's addictive none the less. If you can be addicted to things like gambling and eating, you can definitely become addicted to marijuana. And if you are addicted to cigs you have an addictive personality.

I'm not trying to tell you you are addicted. I have no idea. I am trying to tell you that you are smoking something that is addictive.

I'm addicted to being to attached to other people's business believe it or not. It's a compulsion. I'm working on quiting that too.

One of the guys who was successful quiting thought about continuing to use the patch because he liked the dreams.

Patches just drag the withdrawl out. Cold turkey is the only way to quit. One thing that helped was I took an aspirin and a tylanol and a vitamin C 1000 mg every couple of hours. That knocks back the symtoms to something that can be endured.

Still, it takes guts. Be ready for a fight, the fight of your life!

If you're not likely to get nightmares... I'd recommend it

Especially if you're sexually repressed. You'll be having some sweet, sweet dreams

Unfortunately I wasn't so I only dreamt about crazy **** like watching the TV telepathically and answering the door to easter egg saleswomen. Curse my wicked mind!

I'm trying to quit today. It's hard. I haven't even been awake for an hour and I almost gave up already.
Just take it one day at a time, Kid.

I have smoked less today. I think 6 cigs so far.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone, and thanks for the advice Lancer. I'll try that.

My X called me today and tried to pull some ****. I'm not answering the phone anymore.

Good luck, fellas, though it beats me how the hell can you be addicted to cigarettes.
