No. An amendment to the bill protects the charity status of religious groups that refuse to perform G&L marriages.

                Well, hopefully this part ...

The legislation applies to civic weddings at public places, like city halls and courthouses. No religious groups will be forced to sanctify same-sex marriages if they don't want to.
... will be enough to mollify those who fear that secularism is overpowering religion. But I wouldn't count on it.

Right, but it doesn't protect the churches from having to host receptions, and the rest.

                      Protect? An odd word.

But whether a church can discriminate against people who want to rent its facilities would be determined by existing laws. So there is no need to cover it in the new law.

Good. Finally getting that nonsense over with. Much ado about nothing. If the gays want to marry each other, I could care less.

So when is this government going to get around to decriminalizing small amounts of marijuana?

When the USA gets over its stupid hard-on over "illicit drugs" and we elect some representatives who truly undestand history (can you say "Prohibition"). Thank God for Canada, Americans need somewhere close to home as an icon of freedom.

When that section of the statute is challenged by the Charter what will the decision be? Do you need three guesses?

                              Are you really this paranoid?

Can you cite me any instance where any church was forced to host a reception "and the rest" at all?

The notion that legalizing gay marriage will force any church to do something like this is simply absurd.

Gay "marriage" wasn't the agenda a decade ago.

The agenda moving forward in this country appears to be to force compliance (read: acceptance) by the churches. The campaign to remove their tax free status has already begun. This will be accomplished by showing the Church practices and beliefs are in conflict with the Charter.
