Ah, no, I am baptised. I'm a candidate to enter, which means that I am coming from another christian church to enter the Catholic church. The catechumens are those who have not been baptised.

My first confession will be this Wednesday, with the parish priest.

As for communion, it's the most important one to me, though I think that attitude will change once I get married. I've been attending Catholic churches off and on for the last 3 years. Not being able to take communion has been hard, but harder still has been not taking it at my old church in preparation for my confirmation.

That's nice to have your sister there.

I won't be with my family though. I haven't even told them. It's a long story, my mom's not fond of the Catholic church, and wants nothing to do with it.

                  I lost a trial today.

Oddly, the result is the nearly the same as a win, placement for the defendent. Either in a treatment facility or dept. of corrections. Winning, he would have needed further treatment at a new facility.

convicted child molester charged with doing nasty things to his roommate who was locked up for killing his sister. Talk about a battle of 2 evils.

Was a probation setting, not a full trial, otherwise the judge said I would have won (different burdens of proof). Damn.

Not really. They know that I've been going to masses for the last while, and that I have quite a few Catholic friends. Denise they know about, but they haven't had a chance to meet her, due to distance.

Trying to walk the line between practicing my faith, and between respecting the wishes of my mom. Makes my visits home rather difficult.

Should I call them up and let them know about my plans?

I would. Then try to calmly explain your beliefs and reasons. She will either accept or not. If she loves you she will accept your decisions. I believe it to be important to have those you love around you for occasions like this. Its very soothing. After all you do have to stand up in front of the whole church congreation and stuff.

Would have done that last year, Aggie, while we were still going out with each other, if that were the case.

My reasons for joining now, is because I feel the Catholic church is more right about their doctrines than the Mennonite church.

And that's not something I've been able to say, until this year.

I will have people who love me here. My friends who frankly, have been much more supportive than my parents in these matters.

My parents live too far away, and wouldn't come even if they lived close by. That's how strongly my mom has made her beliefs known in all the previous times we have talked about these things.

So I wonder what should I do? Call them beforehand and let them know? Send them a photo of my confirmation after the fact?
