    Edit - Scrub that.

You may joke but this is very similar to what happened to me. Torrential rain, drove over a hill, a queue of traffic was there. No chance of stopping in time (too short a difference and although I was going pretty slowly I couldn't stop with the weather). His bumper took a bit of a dint, my car was unscathed. But the Porsche driver was a whinging arsehole...

Kuci - Glad you are okay. Were any charges laid?
I get a ticket. I can go to court, or just pay in advance (since I was at fault, no doubt, I'm not going to contest it). I also have to pay a ticket because the car was supposed to be last inspected in November (actually, my dad's paying that one, since HE owns the car and he's the one who's supposed to do that).

A highway? 236 isn't a highway, not really... but it's cuz my school is a 40 minute drive away, that's why.

I'm guessing you go to a private school... or else you live in a pretty spread out school district

Just curious but do you know if the driver of the car you hit got a ticket as well ?? Logically she should since she rear-ended someone as well.

The one time I rear-ended someone I got a ticket for "following to closely" but the guy I hit got one for something along the lines of unnecessarily impeding traffic. He stopped dead in the road while trying to wave down a friend going the other way. (there was no where to turn off as there was ocean on one side and a stone wall on the other)

Never hit someone doing that but my god have they heard my horn (only earlier today someone did that to me),

Only time I've been in an accident, I got rear ended, and managed to be put at fault.

I think the training period should be much longer before you're allowed behind the wheel of a 1 tonne object hurtling freely through open space at speeds up to 120MPH. The six or so months it takes now before you can get a license is ridiculous.
Seniors also account for a disproportionate number of accidents. Do you propose yanking licenses away at 60?

Seniors vote, 18 year olds don't.

                      Game, set, match.

Besides, 60 is not that bad. Next time say 70 or 75.

Actually I've got some stats that show accidents for 55 and over are comparable to teens. I imagine 70 and over would be wildly skewed toward more accidents than teens.
