    A great night for hockey.

The sad thing around here in MO is that we are probably happier that the Wings lost than the Blues won and will probably advance. Such is the result of 37 years of failure and what, 23 consecutive playoffs and no cup. We know whats coming next round, the annual blues out in round two.

      How about those Red Wings!
I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning watching that piece of crap.

      Bring back Scotty!!

Yes regardless what Philly does at least the stinkin Wings are toast. Woot! Woot!

My already high regard for Scotty goes up another notch. With the talent the Wings have there is no reason why they should have been swept. All hail the great Giggy!!

Well i live in vancouver, and i don't think our team was as good as many thought...sure, we have agood regular season, many players set personal highs..and the team achived its highest point total ever..thanks to the overtime points ect....

were still a one line team and it reminds me of Ottawas earlier teams which were fancy and loaded with finesse but had no heart...

my team has no heart......sure we have some guys who crash, but when your a murray baron and you dont play the body and you try to pinch in the playoffs..something is wrong..

naslund is a disappearing act and jackman is just goating bert into all kinds of penalites...

bert whining to the refs ever bloody min is no good either.

cloutier played well, the last goal was moot as the game was over.

alot of things went the canucks way the first 3/4 of the season....the law of averages , and the lack of open ice are exposiing this team for what it is....a one trick pony.

Its time to trade naslund, he isn't going to play more than two more years anyways, wants to raise his kids in sweden...he had his best season ever, so trade him and lets get something for him while the market is high.

linden plays with heart, and can still grind it out, but we need a less porous defence and someone who can win more faceoffs...

and if you can't get up for every game in the playoffs.......then you shouldnt be playing...

The blues have played well, and last night Osgood showed true form, b/c the first few games he won, he didnt' look all that confident....

nice to see detroit out, too bad colorodo is going to win, same thing with jersey...

i hope edomonton can upset the starts and the bolts take out washington..

as for the leafs, the only thing worth cheering for is all the ex canucks in their lineup and behind the bench...

Die hard canuck fan......but i hope they lose the next game so the owner will make changes, though hes too cheap to spend money any more...

              Hey Warz!

I'm in Vancouver as well, at least for now.

thanks to the overtime points ect....
Actually, they only have 1 overtime point. If overtime losses did not count, the Canucks would have easily won the division.

Cloutier had a better game than the stats showed... A floater from the point for a goal from Pronger? Crazy.

Osgood stoned them last night, 32 saves on 33 shots.

Has anyone thought that the Ducks might actually be a good team?

They had a pretty stellar record in the second half of the season. If they keep playing like that (esp. Giguere) they could even win it.

Imagine that: the World Series Title and the Stanley Cup in bloody Anaheim.

The second I bet is the second they shut out the Blues the rest of the series

                      • Not if Giggy plays like he did against the Wings. Consider: Against an entire wing of future Hall-of-Famers, he had a whopping Goals against average of 1.24 !!

I haven't seen a goalie in a zone like that since Hasek on the Czech team.

                          • You know, if "Giggy" let in twice as many goals as he did during that series, he'd still be leading the league in save percentage, but the Wings would have swept the Ducks!

Can't blame Cujo for this. Outplayed? Yes. But he would have outplayed anybody.

And yet, they beat a team with a lot of depth and a great goalie.

As long as the Wings lose, I'm a happy camper, now for the Avs to win it.

                                I disagree.

The Ducks may go out in the second, but I would definitely not discount their chances.

And their D is fantastic! Their D won them the series! Carney may be the most underrated stay-at-homer in the game. All their forwards backchecked (even Chistov!)... Babcock's running a tight ship down there.

As for 'depth': it is true that they don't have alot of big names (compared to Detroit, at least), but they still have Kariya, Stumpie, Ozolinsh, Rucchin, Sykora, and Chistov... And when you get unexpected delivery from guys like Niedermayer & Krog... Then things can happen.

I think they'll give Colorado or Dallas (PLEASE GOD NO!) a run for their money, at the very least.

I'll be watching; the Ducks can be damn entertaining when they want to be.
